We even did a family tree thing online..and non of his family are black. Thank you. We also have a son, and he looks completely white. Yea, there might be some who SAY they are Lumbee, and they Are black. But there are also some that have no black. My boyfriend doesn't have curly or brillo hair. It is straight.

Dateline Pembroke UNC: Several yrs ago a Professor of Indian Geneology gave a speech at Pembroke UNC and Said that thru the yrs the Lumbee tribe is Mixed so much with the Blacks that they NO longer is of Indian Culture or desent period! He furthur stated that is why the US Government has and will not regonize the Lumbee Tribe as to being American Indian..I have never seen Indians that have the features of the Lumbees as a whole. However, Some do not have the dark features and curly hair.. But MOST do !!! Most to all of the other Tribes around agree to the fact that Lumbees are too mixed with the blacks to get the MILLIONS of free Bucks from the Government..So if the Fed's and Professors and other Tribes say the same thing then it's TRUE!!
I work with alot of Lumbees at work.. I have been told by several that they have Black in the Grandparents side as to one being black either the grandpapa or grandmama..I happen to have Indian on my dads side not from around here tho. He nor my dads brother have the dark features nor the kinky hair. I hear all the time at work of the unbelievable (BS)stories that the Lumbees have..They also don't like the white man nor the Black man..They only seem to like themselfs only period. Heck they don't even like other Indians... And some seem to believe that the world ows them everything.

Dear, it doesnt matter,,, If you are other than Pure Lumbee then you'r child is of mixed origin thus that is why the Lumbee is not pure as in other tribes..So NO federal dollars.. This is a fact: A tribe in Minnisota made it tribal law that if anybody of the tribe married out side of the tribe was to be banned from tribe and tribal lands and would not recieve any money from the casino's that the tribe owned and also from any federal money also..This STOPPED all the mixing of that tribe. I dont recall the tribes name but they have the richest tribe in that state..

The Lumbee are in fact recognized, we just do not receive federal grants. The Lumbee are decscendents of the Cheraw and the Sara and came together through cycling in the seventeen hundreds until eventually migrating to present day robeson county.They migrated to robeson county because of the swamp waters. There is nothing wrong with brillo hair nor straight hair. I am black and my family members by blood are as white as can be with blue eyes and dark as can be with brown eyes. I also have had friends that where from the lumbee tribe that looked black. I would have not known if they had not told me. Some of the lumbee's seem to be confuse with their range of complexions. They range from looking almost white to black which is just like the black race. We all should respect each other and know that we all have blood from different races in our veins. I dont care if you are blonde with blue eyes. There are black people with blue eyes and blonde hair. If we all did a DNA then we would get to the truth. Actually if they did a DNA on the lumbee tribe then we all would know their origin to set the record straigh.

I wemt to UNC Pembroke which is in Pembroke, NC. Where the majority of the Lumbees live. And they may not want to admit it, but some have black in them.
