Does anyone have any experience with the nursing home/assisted living care facilities in Bardstown?

I am very concerned about the decline of care my mother is now receiving from a facility in Bardstown and wonder what others are available and how they rate for care.

Well I don't know which one she is in. I worked at one for 14 years. There is a difference depending on what level of care she is in!

So, do you have an opinion as to which facility is the best for nursing home care? What about assisted living?

If I had to put a family member in one and could afford it would be Windsor Gardens they have a very clean place of course it is fairly new they also have assisted living and they use to charge by what the family members needs were. For example the less care and supervision they needed the cheaper it was that may have changed. After that I would consider Colonial they have all three levels of care the biulding is getting old put they have a lot of good caring staff. Federal Hill I think the name has changed is under new management so really can't tell you much before they didn't keep the place really clean like Colonial and there staff turnover was much higher than most nursing homes. It may be better now. I know very little about Bluegrass Assisted Living only things I have heard and I don't like to comment unless I know first hand. I hope this helps you and good luck with your family member.

colonial is an excellent facility. yes the building is old but the care is state of the art. i have no complaints . winsor is very nice as well. the staff interact with the residents as if they family and my mother feels comfortable there. good luck with the transition. it can be very difficult at first. a good facility and warm staff is impairative for the family and the resident.

I work at windsor gardens, we do have different levels of care, and the level of care does determin the price. We have assisted living, personal care and skilled care. You can contact Anette she can give you more info and you can come in for a tour, our number is in the phone book. It is a wondeful place. I have worked there for a year now and I love it!!

I worked at Colonial for years and it was a great facility then, the admin. has little man syndrome & is fake though, you have to watch what he says/does. Life Care CTR has a HUGE turnover and history of alot of skin breakdown. Windsor is beautiful but that doesn't mean the care is great.

i worked at Bluegrass Assisted Living for about a year...i loved the residents and most of the other staff...everyone was very loving and the facility was always kept nice and clean...great activites and great ppl. Only problem i ever had was the owner and her "assistan" they worried more about havin a "full house" so they could get paid more. They seriously could care less about the ppl...if only something could have be done....I am now currently working in at Life Care and i love it there. The ppl are great and the staff are very oriented with the residents...i can give u as much advice as u would like to know...where is ur loved currently at?

Formerstaff

I agree with you that little weasel of a admin. he lies and will flirt with any of the staff that will flirt back. He is the worst thing they hae ever let run the place although he doesn't really run it the staff below him does but he will cretainly take the credit. What a jurk!!!

He isn't even able to put most of the residents names with their faces. His only concern is money. He is soooo sneaky and 2-faced. He needs to go back to the city & stay there. Why are they advertising for an Activity Director? Mary Lou Beam was really good at it.

WE FIND THE COMMENTS REGARDING THE ADMINISTRATOR BOTH OFFENSIVE AND WRONG. PERHAPS YOU DON'T WORK HERE ANY MORE DUE TO POOR WORK PERFORMANCE AND WE DO NOT TOLERATE THAT IN THIS BUILDING. WE ARE A VERY CARING AND PROFESSIONAL FACILITY.IT SEEMS IRONIC THERE WERE NOT ANY NEGATIVE STATEMENTS REGARDING OUR BUILDING UNTIL A RECENT TERMINATION. I AM DEEPLY SORRY YOUR JOB WAS TERMINATED AND WISH LUCK IN THE FUTURE . THANK YOU

You cannot deny that building is old whether you think it is irony after just terminating a former employee or not. If you don't think so you are in major denial. I agree your care is wonderful, but the building is OLD point blank. As for your administrator everyone is entitled to their own opinion and on this site will give it unfortuneatley. He may be the greatest admin. ever but all admins. have to think about money to some degree because that is part of their job. Most people don't understand that and nothing we say or do on this site will make these people understand that. Just keep doing the great job that you are doing. Thank you!

The Admin is a SNEAK and a 2 face seems they always get the rejects that no one else wants. He has a sorted past at another home. He flirts with them and when he moves on he fires them. He THINKS he knows it all but he knows nothing. If he can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen, think its funny the ole saying what goes around comes around maybe this post is just what he deserves!

i live down the street from colonial and the buildings is about in shambles...its sooo old...and when i was little i will always remember patients trying to "escape"....you would see an elderly person goin down the street pushin a machine or whatever was attatched to em...then minutes sometimes longer after that nurses would be scouring the area of my neighborhood lookin for em......dont know if things have change since then....but the "meatwagon"..is up there at least two times a week to pick up dead residents....
