Have worked at both and they both suck.

I work at Johnan now, and no it doesn't suck, especially on 2nd shift. There may be overtime but they are fair and easy to work with and for. Been there 3 months going on 4 and really enjoy the people. Not to mention they recognize their temps when other companies don't. Easy job, easy money.

Former temp wrote:
<quoted text>That's not nice at all! Most people don't choose to be temporary and want to work full time but the companies won't hire them because they want cheap labor and not have to pay benefits. Being a temp doesn't mean being dumb. It's the companies who are dumb because they don't realize the potential of hiring loyal workers and the win-win situation of employees working to produce good quality products in return for good wages and benefits. Many temps don't do their best work because they know they have no chance of getting hired. Therefore, the company loses becauses the temps feel like it doesn't matter about the quality of their work. There will always be good and bad temps but also good and bad full time workers. And there will always be good and bad companies. Mitsuba and Johnan are bad companies because they don't value their workers. They are not the only bad companies but they are the worst in this area. I definitely would stay away from them.
Stay away from Sykes too - they are terrible. They can't even get local people to work for them any more and have to get surrounding employment agencies to try and recruit for them.

Mitsuba just gaves us a small raise like we don't realize it still won't cover the cost of living after 4 years of no raises, gasoline going up and the insurance hikes they just gave us! We're still losing but hey what do we know? We know they are just trying to buy our time so we won't quit until they close. We just dumb kentuckians and they are counting on it so they can stuff their own pockets in the end.

If you want to understand what is behind the Japanese mindset go to Japan topix. You will see why these companies are bad news.

Since nearly all of the hourly workers are temps, and the place is going to be shut down by the end of summer, they would not be organizing if they could.

If you are drug-free and dependable now is your chance to get away from mitsuba and jonan. Tower is hiring and growing and has better pay and benefits than those two companies.

Just so you know - Mitsuba is in the process of shutting down and leaving Bardstown. The facility is largely empty and the entire campus for sale.
The majority of the work was pulled back to Japan a few years ago. The only reason they don't vacate completely is to do some minimal work to cover the taxes and upkeep.
Most of the hourly workers left are all temps.
Try doing some research on companies before you blather on about unions.
just when you think the place is as bad as it can get, it gets worse.

Johnans is a joke. Get ready for it to close. Start looking for something else.
