They are crooks if I've ever seen them!! If you don't have a bank account with them, they charge you a $10 check cashing fee. How crazy is that? Me personally would NEVER open an account with them. I don't care if they paid me to. I will definitely NEVER go back to that bank. Like I said, they are crooks if I've ever seen them!!

Chances are, if you a take a check to any bank that you don't have an account with, you will be charged a fee to cash it. Open your own account somewhere and you won't have that problem anymore.

No bank that I have ever been to has ever charged that much to cash a check even if you don't have a bank account with them. Now I'm not originally from here but still I know how it works. I've dealt with plenty of banks before and they have never charged me that much and the reason that I didn't go to my bank is because it was a check that HAD to be cashed through PNC Bank so thank you very much. I know what I'm talking about.

typically if you have an account you can deposit the check into your account, regardless of what bank issues the check. Why does it seem you're getting hostile about this with the people commenting on your post?

I have never had a check from someone that HAD to be taken to the bank it was drawn on if I had an account of my own. Something is fishy...like maybe you were overdrawn in your account and you needed the whole check so you HAD to cash it at PNC.

I have never had a check that I couldnt put in my bank that was drawn on another bank. Unless you were overdrawn on you account and you needed the amount of the whole check for something.

Most local banks in town will cash checks from customers without a fee if it is a check from their bank. PNC on the other hand, no matter if it is their check or another's, will charge a $10 fee if you do not have an account with them. This is a perfect example of how banks take advantage of the people to attain more money. Not everyone needs a bank account in order to live comfortable in this world. Do the research. There are several law suits out on banks right now. Why? Because they steal our money in order to hold onto our money. Why are we in the financial crisis we've been in our economy? Because of spending invisible is one reason or many. Boycott Banks people, you'll be less stressed out if you do.

In response to this, I have previously worked at PNC bank and yes if you are a non customer they will charge a fee to cash a check drawn on them. But they won't cash a check drawn on another bank if you are a non customer. They is no way to know if the funds are good if it isn't a pnc check. As far as boycotting banks, it's pretty difficult to pay bills and what not without an account. From my experience most people who think this are the ones who do not know how to properly manage their account.

Our economy is in the shape it's in because people enjoy living to the extent of or beyond their means. They have to have the newest car, the biggest house, the beat phones and the most cable channels. They quickly jump at the chance to own a 5 BR house (for 2-3 people) with NO MONEY DOWN! So they're immediately mortgaged to the hilt. They don't save anything, so when something unexpected happens (job loss, health concern, car problems, hot water heater needs replaced) they're in trouble! Banks certainly contributed to that, convincing people who couldn't afford it think they could, but the people who so easily fell for it or jumped at the chance certainly helped!

I dont know a single Bank that doesnt charge a non customer to cash a check. In some cases they wont charge you if its under a certain amount... If you dont like the fee open an account or take it to your own bank. You will have 200 for you to spend that day and in most cases the rest will be there the next day. I agree with the person who said the only people who comlain about the fee are the ones whose accounts are over drawn or cant open an account because they couldnt figure out how to manage their account.

Oh and Boycott. You have no idea how the Banking works. Banks dont make much money on deposits anymore... the spread in interest is nill. Banks make money on loans. So when you deposit a check they usually give you access to that money before they even know if the check is good or not.
They Steal your money???? I dont know where to start with that one. If by stealing your money you mean you went to a retailer and spent more money than you had and took out a small loan and overdrew your account and had to pay a fee. Then i guess that could be stealing but i think that would be stealing on your part. Wouldnt it? isnt that the definition of stealing taking something that isnt yours?

I do not do business with PNC and never will, however because PNC bought out Centura, my elderly mother's account was changed to PNC. She has had more problems with her accounts and the people she calls at the bank do not make things clear for her. When I call for her I understand why she is so confused, twice they have given her options to do things and she said ok, they did NOT tell her there would be a charge or she wouldn't have done it. I am now on her account and she is changing to BB&T where I bank and finally she can understand her bank statement. As soon all her CD's mature she will be completely done with them. I am so glad.

Since PNC is the only bank in this podunk town that has branches in Louisville, Lexington, Etown and many other actual cities it is the only bank I would consider having an account with so I can maintain actual access to my money.

You sure need access to a lot of branches.
