I have a yorkie with fairly long hair and I'm looking for a really good groomer in the Bardstown area. Since his hair is very high maintenance, I am nervous about getting it cut. Can anyone give their opinion??

We had a Yorkie, had his hair long. We groomed him ourselves..with a blow dryer and sprays made to make the hair easy to brush and detangler. He was beautiful.

I've thought about cutting it myself, but I'm worried I'll mess it up. I tried cutting my sons hair once and it didn't turn out good at all, lol. I'm not good at that kinda stuff.

I have taken my dog to grooming by Nicole. I was not satisfied at all. They were rude and acted as if I didn't take great care of my dog. Now I take him to shaggy dog. The workers there are great!! They are friendly and know me by name. I highly recommend them!!

The only one I know at Nicoles is my friend that bathes the dogs. And she is wonderful with them..she treats them like her own and like they are babies. She talks to them to keep them calm and loves on them and makes them feel special. How do I know this? Because I know who she is with MY dogs.

Says the Shaggy Dog employee. I've taken my dogs to Grooming by Nicole's for years and never once have they been rude even when others have been rude to them.

This is the original writer Sara...I am thinking I may try Shaggy Dog since it seems to have positive reviews. I also heard about the new Bardstown Mills offering grooming services, does anyone know about this? Thanks everyone for your input!

Well not all of Nicoles employees are rude..actually I know 2 people there. A bather and the man that works in the hotel with the dogs. Neither of them would have a rude bone in their bodies..and they give the dogs personal attention and treat them as if they were their own.

Unlike some others I won't say anything negative about Shaggy Dog or any others nor will I defame the owners or groomers. You do have several choices here in town. Special Pets, Bardstown Mills are two other places that offer grooming services. Feel free to check any of them out for yourself and not rely on the badmouthing idiots on Topix. Every 2 or 3 months a thread is started about groomers and it is used to defame Nicole. Find out for yourself, personally, before judging.

El Diego- Just to clarify, I am honestly asking about grooming services, so I'm not real sure what "bullcrap" you are refering to. However, if you do not have any valuable info pertaining to the original post, then you may post comments on another thread. Thanks.
Seriously? Looking for helpful advice on Topix? LMFAO!

I'm not sure how the topic became about government employees, but anyway......I ended up taking my dog to Shaggy Dog and he looks WONDERFUL!! They did exactly what I wanted and he smells great too (not like a kennel). When I dropped him off, the woman spent time showing me pictures and discussing what I wanted, overall I'm very please in my decision!
Just so you know

Shaggy Dog has been sold to new owners. These new owners also own grooming facilities in a nearby town and from what I have heard are very good. It might not hurt to give this place a second chance.

I have to say that I took my chow to Country Kennel and was very sad when I picked her up. I explained to the groomer that she was deaf, but very sweet. When I picked her up, she had shaved her down to her skin, she had nicks on her face and she was terrified. I actually walked past her, not even knowing she was my baby. She had her tied up in the front waiting area to a wall. I was so upset when she told me that she wouldn't listen to anything she commanded her to do. I pointed out that I explained she was deaf and needed gently commands with your hands to sit, stand, lift paw. She said no she didn't know and I had to point it out to her on the sheet she was holding. My Sugar actually wet on herself because she was scared. I will never return there again, period. Sugar is gone now, but that is one thing I wish I could have taken back in her life. She was the sweetest animal I have ever known and I feel she was mistreated and humiliated. She shaved her face and cut her! Never will she touch another of my babies!

I was told by a friend that owned a Chow that you should NEVER shave them. She had a friend that had Chows and didnt heed the warning and shaved one of hers and it died. Im sorry you lost your baby and that they were so mean to her.
