The Barktown Rescue web site states that the group is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization, but I would check that out before I wrote a check. The Kentucky Secretary of State shows that Barktown Rescue, LLC, was established in 2009 as a non-profit and filed articles of dissolution on June 4, 2010. It may no longer be a legal non-profit.

The organization is now Barktown Animal Rescue, Inc. and it is a legal non-profit. Check the Barktown Rescue Facebook page for an address. I do not know why the group uses two different names, but if they are helping animals, who cares!

As a Foster for Barktown I can tell you they work tirelessly to save as many dogs and puppies as possible for being destroyed. The dogs are then veted and sent to fosters to be cared for till they find their furever homes. Thank-You so much for your interest. There are always dogs looking for homes. Look on Barktown Rescue and see if 1 of them is for you !

I adopted from them and the dog was nothing like they described. He was supposed to be housetrained, good with kids and cats but he was wild. I tried to return him but they wouldn't take him back so I had to give him away on craigslist :(

Well Beth...I know personally of one dog they took back 4 times....so something isnt ringing true with your statement. I think you voided your contract when you gave him away on craigslist.

when we got our dog from there they worked very hard to make sure it was the perfect dog for our family... They were great!!!! I appreciate everything they do!!! I hope you care more for your cats and kids than the poor dog that you was so quick to give away on Craigslist

Also, the dog we adopted there was older and abused.they rescued him from the pound.. He is a special needs dog. He Had no teeth and had lost most of his hair due to stress.. I think.... We were told that he was house broken... He was not, when we called them back they gave us several days to decide if this was the dog we wanted to be part of our family... And he is.... These people are mostly volunteers.. I'm sure they don't always see everything about every dog.. But I think they have done a great job... Thanks again for all that you do

The dog I adopted killed my cat. He wasn't really mean but not well trained. He jumped on the kids and knocked them down. When I tried to return him they kept putting me off. "Give me a few days to find a place" or "let me call you back". I kept the dog outside for 2 months before finding him a new home myself. It was that or back to the shelter.

I know this is not true. As a foster I met and took back dogs that did not fit in at the homes of the adopters. As for them not being what they were shown to be. That is how they were in the foster homes.
