It can be really beautiful, but they need AC. If you are planning a wedding in Bardstown there is a bridal fair there this Sunday February 8th. Also http://www.bardstownbride.com is Bardstown's best place for wedding information although it is still a bit new.

the cleaning deposit they kept hers because she left her food overnight in the cooler and used a cooker in the kitchen otherwise the place was cleaner then before she started hell we even got the cobwebs out of their corners

I'll vouch for what Bernie says about the deposit. I cleaned leaves and dust BEFORE I could even start decorating for my daughter's wedding. Then afterwards, they said I left a bag of ice in the sink. Yes I did, but all the trash cans had already been emptied and I didn't want to leave it in a clean one. So I poured just the ice in the sink, so it could melt and they kept half of the deposit. AND, the lady wasn't even there to explain it to me or let me explain. And yes, it's hot.

Well when I talked to the lady they said that they would set up and clean up for us. Did she ever offer that to any of you. Mine is in November so I don't think that it is going to be to hot, it might be a little cold

My daughter had her's out there in November and it was a mess. We had to have them come out before we decorated because of the mess it was. There was also a terrible smell they didn't warn us about. The lady that runs it isn't very professional at all, if you can find somewhere else I highly recommend it. The actual place isn't bad but the woman running it has no sense of professionalism about her at all. She lied a lot to us or didn't mention certain things. Also wouldn't return any of my calls.

Well Thanks for the information we have already signed the contract and sent the money in. So we will just have to wait and see and you never know it might turn out ok (Hopefully)"Mom" was it cold there when your daughter had hers out there? That is one thing I am worried about. Hopefully sinve it will be a year since last Nov maybe the smell is gone by now.....

I had my reception at Hillbilly Heaven ( BGEEC ) in September. It was extremely hot! There is no heat or air conditioning. In the contract it states that there is a $250 charge for heat and air, so we set aside money for that. The day we went to decorate, the owner told us there WAS no heat or air! It had never been installed! Our guests ended up outside because it was cooler, then ended up leaving very early. We had a ton of food left and sent the DJ home early. Had I known about this before hand I would not have rented it.

Yea there are a lot of things they lie about. The smell ended up going away, but it was the fact that they didn't tell us about it until we asked. The woman is a joke of a business person. The best thing to do is just go about it and hopefully it will be better. My daughter had hers in November of 08 and temperature wise was ok, but like others have said if the woman is talking more than likely she is lying.

For what it is worth i have been to this place a few times for weddings and parties even in the winter time and it was very nice so i know they have heat!! My sister had her wedding there last May and the lady that we spoke with was very helpful she even had one of the guys working there help us decorate..... we had a great time...it sounds like some people just had a bad experience

I was very surprised to read these negative posts. My sister had her wedding reception there in October 2008. Yes, there is heat, but no air conditioning. The heat does cost extra, but its a nominal fee. The woman in which you speak of was nothing but helpful and courteous. I will say, she is new at this business, but I wouldn't go so far to say she is unprofessional. She was very willing to work with us on whatever we wanted or needed. Being that I had already been through the planning of a reception, I knew what to ask for and helped my sister make sure she was clear on everything BEFORE signing the contract. A contract is there to protect BOTH sides, so make sure you are clear and don't be afraid to ask questions and have the answers noted on the contract.

As for the smell, that is a whole 'nother story. The problem is not at the property, but with the city sewers. If you live in Bardstown, such as I do, you have become all to familiar with the smell. It comes and goes. It's my understanding that the city is being fined over it, so if you got a complaint about the smell - take to City Hall. Things like weather and city sewers are not within that woman's control, so you shouldn't be harping on her for that.

Like I said, my sister's wedding was beautiful. She liked the property because of its picturesque setting and the fact that inside was a blank canvas. She hired a florist and it was decorated beyond belief!

My co-worker is looking to book her wedding there this Fall as well. She mentioned that the woman said she is now offering decorating services, so that must be something new. She's learning the biz, so cut her some slack. I wouldn't want to work with bridezillas myself :)

I agree with local guy. I visited the complex for a friend's wedding. Having never been to Bardstown before, I was pleasantly surprised. The surroundings are beautiful. Her reception was very nice and everyone enjoyed themselves. Having gotten married myself just over a year ago, my word of advice would be not to stress over the little things. As long as you and your hubby to be are happy, everything else will fall into place. Good luck!

My son had his wedding there in November and we opted to have the heat for the extra charge per the contract and we had no complaints from any of our 250 guests. Everyone there was very helpful and we were also allowed to decorate the day before. In fact 2 of our guests at the wedding are planning their weddings at this location. Also, if you get a chance go to one of their music shows which are awesome. We go every Saturday night.

Blue Grass Entainment and Expo Center Facts:

1. There is heat in all three of the buildings.(Air conditioning in the theater style building)
2. The owners have owned the facility since Feb. 2008 and are continuously making investments to make improvements.(Just ask the 300 to 500 folks that are there virtually EVERY weekend)
3. Over 60 weddings / recetions / parties were held there in 2008 and maybe 3 or 4 deopsits were held.(less than 1 percent!)
4. If you have questions then go to www.bgeec.net or www.bgeec.com and find the contact link.
