Sick of Fussing

Bardstown, KY

#1 Jul 27, 2012
I am sick of people who work at distillery's complaining about working over time and weekends. Let me tell you that you need to SHUT UP! There are people who would love to have your jobs.I would love to have one. My family works at one of these distillery's and they say all people do is bitch because they have to work. There are people living in card board boxes that would love to have your job. Fighting among each other back biting is crazy, I say stop your fussing and do your job and thank God for it.

Cause working 12hr shifts and weekends all the time sucks. Who wants to spend there life away at work all the time when they have families. I work at GE and a lot of the Buildings have been working 12 hour days and mandatory Saturdays in 95+ degree heat inside the buildings. Come get ya some if you like it so much. They are taking applications online only on August 2nd at 6:30am once they reach 10,000 applicants they quit so you better make it fast. The website is geci.selectapplications.com dayshift starts at $13 and some change and 2nd shift starts at $14 and some change. Sign up and come get ya all the OT you want !

Are you serious? Complaining because you're working 12 hours a day. Plus you get overtime? I worked at Jim Beam corporate office and worked 55 hours or more per week with NO OVERTIME. Try making $40,000 a year and every minute you work overtime you do not get paid. Work 12 hours a day, make 40,000 a year. Yeah, I went to college and got bachelors and masters degrees, but the guys working the line make more than me. Not to mention the corporate people cannot really take a day off because we don't have people to fill in for us when we're out. Not only can the union guys take a day off without thinking about work, when they come in the next day they don't have work waiting for them. Not to mention getting off for a straight week during summer for shutdown. A guy in the office takes a day off and the next day they have 2 days worth of work to do. If you can somehow be granted a week of vacation you'll come back to work with 2 weeks worth of work to do, which means working extra to catch up. So the next time you're working overtime just think about the guys who went to college, deep in student loan debt, that are working the same overtime, but instead of getting time and a half, they aren't getting paid at all.

I sure hope that wasn't directed at me...I have no criminal record at all. You sir need to get your story straight before you comment on someone else's statement. I had a good job there and in Louisville but I wanted something better and decided on the Air Force. Now if I had a felony conviction, don't think I would have been able to join the Air Force much left the Army. I signed up in '99. So don't come at me with the excuse of they are hurting on their numbers so they sponged my recored if they needed too.

MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE WENT FOR A REAL DEGREE TOWARDS A REAL PROFESSION. MAYBE YOU WOULD HAVE LANDED A CAREER THAT PAYS MORE. MAYBE YOU GET PAID WHAT YOU ARE WORTH. A PIECE OF PAPER IS SOMETIMES JUST A PIECE OF PAPER.

Boo hoo, you are the type of person who resents educated people - that much is obvious. A piece of paper does mean something but those who don't have it like to say it doesn't matter.

What kind of "Real Degree" would you recommend? Accounting, Finance,Engineering? I know that accountants at these companies are making less than the union guys. These people are salary and make $40,000 a year even if they work 60 hours a week. Not to mention they cannot take their vacations, pay more for insurance and do not have company shutdown. If a union guy was making $20 an hour and working 60 hours a week he would make $41,600 a year straight time and $31,200 in overtime. A total of $72,800 a year for a high school educated job to work the same hours.
