Everybody needs to get together and run Anthony Orr out of town...He has made a total mess out of our school situation. First the Jr. & Sr.'r had a choice to go to the new school then all of a sudden It was onlyt he Seniors who got a choice, now the majority of the Seniors want to stay at the old school and now they all have to stay...what is up with this guy....Sounds like he needs to go back to Fayette County where they got rid of him....lucky us....If they had left it alone and went with their first choice and let the jr & sr. have a choice they wouldn't be in the media limelight all the time. Orr, get your head out of your......!

I agree. Anthony Orr Is a total arrogant asshole, and Wes Bradley the new principal is right there with him. These 2 guys are a total joke. This whole Thomas Nelson school situation is rediculous. Make up your damn mind what your going to do and stick with it. Quit changing everything around. It's confusing enough for the students to make this transition. Orr and Bradley get your shit straight and be consistent.

Also, not to change the subject but a long time Spanish teacher died at the high school. Anthony Orr, Eric Gilpin, and Wes Bradley wouldn't let us have a full day off to attend the funeral. Gilpin and Bradley didn't bother to attend the funeral today, and I doubt Orr did either. Just goes to show you that there is no support among teachers, administrators, and staff in that school system. The 3 stooges need to go. They are all about themselves and there is no leadership, or support among each other here in this school system. It really sad to see day in and day out.

Not to sound harsh but maybe they should have planned her funeral on Saturday so all the teachers could attend.
I can understand why they wouldn't want ALL the teachers gone at the same time on Friday.
And it is bad that they keep changing their mind about these Sr's. and Jr's. They should have never left it up to the kids anyway. Too much emotion and undo termoil ensued over this. They should just wait until the end of the school year and split them up according to home locations. Heck, that's what all the other age groups are going through.

You do sound pretty harsh. Are you sure you're not Anthony Orr? Mrs. Sanchez died Monday and the funeral was today. The school could have been more sympathetic to teachers and staff who wanted to attend. The school should have been more flexible about the day the family chose to have the funeral. Especially a long term teacher at the school. Just goes to show you that there is not a family atmosphere at that school and that starts with the 3 stooges, Anthony, Eric, Wes. Aka Moe,, Larry and Curley.

I do think the school was flexible to teachers by giving them a half day off if they chose to attend. The problem I have is that the school should have been called off at the high school today to allow everyone to attend wether it be students, staff, teachers, administrators, etc.. I do have to agree with the previous posters. There isn't a family atmosphere here at the high school. I heard someone say today at the funeral that principal Eric Gilpin didn't say one word to Mrs. Sanchez the whole time the school had began this school year. Not even a simple "hello" or "kiss my ass". That is pretty sad that a principal could be that arrogant and standoffish to an employee to not speak or carry on a conversation. Yet principal Gilpin has the nerve to come to the visitation last night and act like a greeter to family and people standing to view the casket. What an asshole.

I can tell you from the athletes i have seen coming that I don't think will be a problem. I know it won't be in the primary sports. You mark my word that the coaches hired at Thomas Nelson will be "good ole boys" from Nelson County.

Who cares about sports or which kids get to pick what school they want to go to? You people better start asking the idiot school board and Orr how they are going to staff both schools. They do not have the money to staff both schools, they said they are going to lay off teachers this coming year due to money isuues. And here is the best part and which the school board should be voted out over, the new high school will only be used for 2 years and closed due to student population. These morons knew this when they built it and still let that dumba$$ Lance spend money they did not have.I for one am tired of my property taxes going up every year because of mismanagement, remember to vote these morons out!

Closed all students housed in NCHS again, call and ask your school board member. Yet we will still be paying major money to maintain an empty school. Just like Lance built a new central office on the pretense the money would come from selling the old one, Did the school board really think they could get a million dollars for that dump off 245 or just go along with the lie? Now they gave up selling it and made it into a early child center. You all tell me what is worse they are either incompetent or purposely deceptive?
Cant blame Lantz

Look, we can't keep blaming Jan Lantz for our problems. It's like Obama still blaming Bush for our problems. Orr has been there a year and a half now and knew what he was getting into when he was hired. He is in way over his head here, just look at his wishy washy answers and back and forth decisions. Orr and these 2 principals he hired for the high school will sink us. They are incompetent and arrogant just like Anthony Orr. We are in for a mess here with this new high school. Instead of Orr working on the future problems with the new high school last year, he is too busy firing the high school principal for no reason and forcing resignations of good coaches. That's where his focus was last year when this all needed to be structured out.

DR Lantz, spelled wrong in my previous post LOL. Is to blame with out a doubt for the money spent and the problems it has created now, along with the board. She was a mess from the get go with the money, she about lost her job the first year for a million dollar budget mistake and she never got any better. Not to take away from Orrs' special kind of stupid, he has that well covered. But that comes back to an incompetent board for hiring him, what kind of morons hire a superintendent that does not have Dr in front of their name? This whole school system is a mess and instead of focusing on the real problems, the board members. They want to go after teachers, really when has cutting back on teachers and increasing the teacher to student ratio ever been a good thing?
New board members

I do agree that Anthony Orr was a huge mistake In being hired. He is not suited or expierienced enough to take on a large school system. I also agree that the Board members have become "yes men" to him with decisions he has made with the "letting go" of teachers, administrators, and coaches. I do think Orr has picked 2 terrible principals in Eric Gilpin and Wes Bradley for the 2 high schools. I think the Board members do have to be accountable for hiring this moron Superintendent who has snowballed terrible decisions of his hirings, firings or forced resignations. I think we definitely need to go shopping for new board members that aren't
"yes men" to his rediculous decisions.

Lantz most definitely created this problem. For years, she pulled the wool over the board members eyes, or they simply shut them to her hateful ways. But now, they should know everything and are letting Orr and the other incompetents (Mark Thomas, Greg Hash, and pretty much most of the people who work at the central office) sit and draw their paychecks without having a clue what they are doing. Mark just wants to chase women (and probably men) around the desk, Greg just wants to eat and the other people at central office just punch in from 9-5 and do nothing in between. Someone needs to do an investigation and get rid of the whole bunch. Oh yeah, Tim Hockensmith should run for office with all his shady dealings with OUR money. He would make a great politician.

The problem I see in the Nelson County school system and central office is nobody trusts anybody. Everyone thinks they "know it all". They don't respect one another, they backstab each other, and talk bad about each other. I think Anthony Orr doesn't do a good job communicating with his staff. They often get blindsided with an issue that he didn't bother to communicate with. I think Orr thinks he can do anything he pleases, and make decisions without checking and thinking things out thoroughly. He gets mad or upset about something, takes things personal, and automatically determines the solution is to "fire" people. As long as the "yes men" Board members let him do as he pleases, fire as pleases, force resignations as pleases, then we need to start fresh with new school board members. Let's vote them out next election and run Orr out of town.
