Why do people that rent destroy houses? I'm not saying all renters are like this, there are good renters but it seems there are more bad renters then good. I guess this Obama entitlement mind set makes these renters think they can do what they want with out repercussions, there needs to be more laws to protect landlords, at the end of the day, we take the hardest hit when your dumb a$$ destroy our properties!!!

I'm a renter and take good care of my home.(Should add I am a long-term renter- been in my current home for 8 years). I have notices though that most renters don't care about their home, yards, etc and could care less if they cause damage or allow things to degrade. It's pretty sad.

That's a good question. All these bad renters out there give people like me a bad name. When I was lookin for a house to rent, I filled out at least 50 applications and not one call back. The reasons were either they didn't believe a single mother could ever afford to pay all her bills without section 8, or they didn't want a toddler living in the house with only one person to watch her. It really is sad.

Just curious, who are you renting ? Do u require security deposits? Are u experienced at renting property or amateur ? Back ground check, rental history? Or do u just fill the rental spot quickly? Are the properties in good condition that you rent?

I do require a deposit, and I'm experienced in rental property. I don't do back ground checks and rental history. The homes that I own are lower income homes and I understand that with these homes, I'm not going to get the best renters. I'm just frustrated.

You sound intelligent enough that you've answered your own question. I think you know the answer , you just need confirmation. You r smart, and you already figured it out. People do not respect themselves, let alone anyone else's stuff.

I rent from a horrible landlord, I pay way too much for what I live in! She does not fix anything, even when I call, leave voicemails, write letters, and everything. The property was not in great condition when I moved in but now there are other things wrong with it due to problems that occured with the property (example: There were cuts in the kitchen floor when I moved in, mostly little ones so I didn't pay much attention, the backdoor leaked water and got under the linoleum and it was being ripped more when I opened the back door, now there is a big piece of linoleum missing that i cut off before it could rip further) I know this will become my fault in her eyes tho I called her several times and left several messages. I am planning on moving very soon, as soon as I get my taxes back, and now I'm afraid that anywhere I try to rent they will talk to her and she will give me a bad reputation due to these things. My point of writing all this is to ask, if you called a previous landlord and they said something like that would you automatically not consider the renter or would you ask their side of the story?

So you have no consideration for the people who live next to your properties.
You sound like the description of a slumlord.
Yeah, people just love it when you rent to sex offenders and drug dealers.
Karma can be a b1tch.

This town does not hold the landlords accountable for anything! These so called homes they rent in this town are bug filled hole in the wall dumps! The houses on the street by Salt River they are falling down around them poor people. Guess what they pay a month 500.00. What the heck is that all about GREED. Then you have places like North Gate Apt. Same thing they don't fix nothing, bug filled, mold , windows falling out , stairs getting ready to fall down. They pay over the top for rent. The landlord gets mad at you or if your late on your rent. The Landlord will turn off you electric and water. Takes the law in his own hands! Gets away with it to. Want to know why, Because they are poor and can't take them to court. Why isn't the Heath department going in and condemning Them? Money Talks in this town. Now most of them want you to pay a fee to even apply to live in these places. The deposits they make you pay , that's what they suppose to use to pay for the damages. You took on the job of renting these places out now Do Your Job and fix stuff with all that money your making off of being a slumlord. Whats wrong with Bardstown? How come they don't have to follow Kentucky State Laws like everyone else?
