Does anyone work at Sykes in Allentown, PA? If so what what is it exactly? How much is starting rate? What are the hours? The woman that called me said she works 11am to 7pm. Is there different shifts? what's the dress code? Any information would be helpful... I don't want to waste my effort if this place is no good!

Bardstown is 675 miles from Allentown PA. I don't think anyone here works there. Doubtful Sykes here supports the same clients, and working conditions depend on management. Why don't you look for a topix forum in PA?

I work at Sykes Allentown, and its a joke job. The management is cold. THe center director is a banshee. The teams leads are okay, some know how to management in a productive way, while others just lack that skill. Sykes is all about the business and doesn't care about its people. Had experience were agent needed medical attention and management would not let them leave. The Second is command at Sykes Allentown is a very nice person but she doesn't understand family things and being a single mother and the oblgations that follow with that life path. The starting pay is only 9.00 while other call center are paying 10 and more. Its a great starter job if you are single without kids. Myself, I have children but I do my job. The biggest thing is if your not on your phone, the client does not pay for that time away from the phone, so Sykes loses money when you spend to much time not doing your job. In my experience of people "getting yelled at" its more of a please get back on your phone. Overall, Sykes isnt the greatest work place, but I like it for the most part. I wish it was like a real job with personal days, sick days and understood that people lives can't be planned. I was once told in a performance report that I need to plan my Medical life threatening emergencies. I wrote back, unfornately, I can not plan these events but I'll try harder, thanks for the sound advice.:D

It amused me.

I work at the Allentown, PA location and have for several years. I find the management to be very caring. I too am a single mother and have had nothing but a good experience with the Site Director who has always shown an interest in both my professional and personal life. Most employees who are not happy or experience problems is because they don't have a proper work ethic. Sykes is a business. people need to remember that. We have BBQ's, contests, drawings, incentives and a great Customer Service week every year and other benefits. I would like to see better benefits, but I feel like I am secure and like my job. It's a great place to start a career like I did. The only time anyone is unhappy with management is because they are abusing the rules!I see it every day!

yeah, right. you are in Allentown, PA and just happen to be on bardstown topix? Get real. we know you are just trying to make the bardstown skyes look better so they can find people who want to work for them. You are from the bardstown sykes facility and probably in HR - you know the place sucks! WE know the place sucks! Why else would you constantly have ads in the newpaper trying to people to work for you? YOU SUCK!!!!

RUN!!!!!!!!! Run for your life!!!!! scooping poop at a zoo would be a better place to work. You are a number and fullfilling a bottom line with this company-- no benefits--as they only hire "part-time" but expect you to work full time+ hours....or you WILL hear about it.... and don't expect to to be off on Christmas Eve or New Year's eve...

And don't even get me started on the woman (Adrianne) who "runs" the Allentown location-- she treats her employees like slaves and has them take care of things like wiping the snow or ice off her car...picking up lunch, she never comes out of her office but "summons" people by paging them-- constantly -- I've never met a more belittling, mean person in my life. I've heard her say out and out LIES about people (gossip and personal information that shouldn't be shared) and then smile sweetly in their face as if they are her best friends...made me want to puke. Horrible moral and everyone is always afraid for their job and of her. I've heard that reports have been filed with the Main HR office, but nothing was ever done about her--- the place might be a decent place to work--but that woman brings such misery it has no chance.

Believe me when I tell you that you don't want to work there. It is freezing in the Winter. They have people listen to your calls for "quality assurance". You are in training class for weeks! This place isn't a job, it's a concentration camp! I got hurt in an accident and lost my job because of it, but I was really hurt. Big fat Adrian is a bitch!

i could say a lot about sykes in allentown but i wont because even typing this i fear for my job. i need my job, because they are hard to find. i dont think i have ever hated an employer as much as i hate it there; the management is not real. they only care about your ass being in the chair for 7.5 hours a day to make make their monthly hours so they can get their bonus... drive bmw's, have someone park your car for you and like someone else said, talk about you behind your back and be all cutesy to your face! they DO NOT give two shits about YOU, they do not want you to make money to live, and have a somewhat normal life... they want you to live in poverty; only they can have $$$$$, drive bmw's, and have money in THEIR POCKETS!!!

Allentown site: if u come in happy and u feel like u did a great job....IT DON'T MATTER!!! Management and QA will suck the joy and life from ur very soul! All of the other comments on here are true. Except the happy employee. I never yell or abuse management. If anything Adrian is a cold evil beast. Peter oh my, her hound from hell! To dumb to think for himself. They don't pay! Tried to pay nurses $9.00 to start working here! They all quite. Its a slap in the face this pay! Forcing us to use vacation time instead of letting us make up the time. I would have like to save it for holidays. They will never care or say how good u are but they complain if u don't sound the way they want. You to. Hows going to be happy when you pay us like we are out there picking cotton!

One more thing, all the great stuff Barbeques and customer service appreciation week. They Start offering $10 dollar per week dress down. So in Reality we pay for the Barbeques and all the "free" stuff we get customer service appreciation week! Also not all the Jean money goes to charity! Proof Adrian showed us copies of her personal checks "in the chatter box" and we know $3 a head with all the employees we had.$500.! Where's the rest of it? ring dings? Adrian!

Sykes is the most disgusting ,unorganized place to work for , All the comments about this place being a piece of shit !!!!!!!! is true !!!!! They are unrealistic !! You are given two 15 min breaks and a half an hour lunch. If you exceed that time you can get written up. GOD FORBID YOU NEED TO USE THE DAMN BATHROOM after using up all your given breaks . That could be a potential write up!!! Like are you f@#$$%^^ Kidding me ??? It's inhumane treatment. They treat you like a slave ,and nothing more . They will retrain you if you do a call wrong, or don't show enough enthusiasm , And then they will make you sign a paper. If you get so many of those they fire you. Oh and be aware if you wear sneakers or shoes that resemble sneakers Peter will send you home . He is the most incompetent man Iv'e ever seen . And his boss ADRIENNE IS EVEN WORSE!!!!!!! Please don't make the same mistake we all did. Do your self a service and In the words of Scar from Lion King Run away Simba !! Run away and never return.

this is sooo funny..waaa waaa cry me a river...i think almost every call center environment sucks..you are there to be chained to a desk for every single minute, they are paying you..what do you expect? if they are lenient in that...and if each person takes one or two minutes extra for lunch and break and they have like 40,000 employees come on you do the math...stop trying to cheat your employer of something they are paying you to do

..you don't have to be working there..you can quit...no where is perfect...and this may be a low paying job but you accepted the employment offer so either do your job happily or quit!!! and nooo i am not a manager or never even been there...am just saying i have worked in a call center before and i know how challenging it is to be chained to the desk...its not easy and all the qualities...they have to do it...they are accountable for you to their bosses i mean its only natural.

this is not like an admin job where you have time to socialize...its get on the phone and talk to customers while sitting on your fat ass as you gain weight by the minute and then go home.

if you can't take it get your ass back to school and do something about it..its never to late to get a degree in something you love.

take care people!
