Has anyone heard anything else about Flower Foods hiring? I know they were supposed to start hiring the end of Feb., but I hadn't heard anything else. I also heard (not sure if it's factual) that they would only hire personell with at least a two year college degree. My husband is looking for a job, as he will soon be layed off within a few more months. If they are looking for a college degree, I don't guess he'd qualify for a job there anyway. The job market is dead right now, especially here in Bardstown.

They will be hiring. But only people with a 2 yr college degree. They have articles in the Kentucky Standard all the time.

It is true that they are looking for people who hold a college degree. With many companies going out of business and jobs harder to come by the job pool is now more competitive. Therefore a company can raise the bar of who they hire. Getting people who have college degrees shows that they are willing to put more effort into their career.

college degrees are for people in the management position's or skilled labor position's. All production workers do not fall in this category. Taking applications now for maintenance. Be patient.

Flowers is now hiring for production workers. I was pissed when I found out that you have to have a 2 year degree or military experience to work there. I was laid off from my job and had hopes of maybe getting a job there. I'm not even qualified to apply!!!! There are plenty of good potential employees out there that would bust their butts working there but now can't because they don't have a 2 year degree. Personally I would rather have an experienced worker then someone fresh out of school with a degree!!!!!!

I'm not fresh out of school...I'm 40 years old with a two year degree and have never qualified to get anywhere with it. Maybe this time around the hard earn money and studying I did twenty years ago will pay off.

I have been to the Flowers Website and it's info is posted below. You can plainly read that it says production technician positions have to have a 2 year degree or military experience.

Flowers Baking Co. of Bardstown is pleased to announce it will begin taking employment applications for production technician positions starting March 9, 2009.

A minimum 2-year technical degree or military experience is required. Equipment operation, electronics, and mechanical/electrical maintenance experience is preferred.

I just put in for it. They are not even taking applications..oonly resumes and transcripts. They will screen them and then they will call you. I couldn't believe how many people showed up at 6:30 this morning...some without any college and they just told them no.

The college degrees are also for the production workers. The lines are so computerized that they are requiring production workers to have 2 year degrees.

That's why the pat is expected to be decent. Also why the company is succeeding
