While the negative public reaction to an option for the Mid-Currituck Bridge project wasn't unexpected, a state official says it's not true the option represents a "deal" to appease environmentalists' concerns about the bridge project.

This bridge will do little if nothing to alleviate the traffic on the northern Outer Banks. If Rt. 12 is not widened from Southern Shores to Duck and the intersection at 158 and Rt. 12 dramatically improved, this bridge is a huge waste of money and will cause Aydlett to be detrimentally changed forever. KEEP THE BRIDGE OUT OF AYDLETT!!
