I am actually having a flare up as we speak. I am 41 and this is maybe the 5th or 6th time I've had it in my whole life. If you've never had it pray you don't ever get it. It's no fun. Hurts like hell and makes you gimp around like an old person. I always get it in the joint behind my right big toe. 800 mg Ibuprofen does help dull the pain a bit. I have also iced it a couple times. That seems to help a little. I am now trying Mucinex. I heard about it from a friend and now on here. I hope it works. I got mine at Walgreens for $6.99. I also found out that Gout is hereditary and low and behold my Dad used to get it. One thing he passed on to me that I could do without...lol. Anyways. I'll keep y'all posted on how the Mucinex works.
