Do what you need to do to get your kid in Whitley County. It will be worth it.

GR is a great school. I have had kids there in the past and have always loved the teachers, well most of them. They have a new(er) principal who I've heard is a great Christian man. They have also had some renovations that I have seen first hand and they have made the school much safer. I heard a lot of students left this past year, but it had nothing to do with the teachers and staff but more so to do with all the renovations they had going on last summer and not knowing if the school would be finished in time. But like I said before it's a great school and I know personally. If you're interested in enrolling your child there then give Mr. West a call, I'm sure he would be glad to assist you.

Hands down, Central Elementary!! My baby's in Kindergarten & in Ms Sheila's class. She has learned so much more than I could have ever imagined. Ms Sheila & her teachers aide, Ms Cindy are wonderful! They are always making my daughter feel special & always doing fun activities! Not to mention the classroom is so pretty! Always theme decorated & lots of students work!

Am I making a mistake if I decide to send my child to Lay? How are their kindergarten teachers?

Lay is a good school too. Can't go wrong with Lay or GR.

I did not realize what a tough decision this would be. I had thought about Barbourville, but a friend told me that wouldn't be the best decision. Lay and GR are my top two, but I'm not sure which to choose. I just hope I make the right decision. I'd like a school that offers a lot of "extras" for the kids as well as provides a good education. How do the three schools I mentioned do with that? Thank you all for your help!

Gr is by far hands down the best. You will come in contact with staff or parents who are rude or not great at any school though. Lotta ppl take there kids to GR daily just to insure better education and a lot more activities for the kids & parents. Best choice IMO
I agree 100% with this statement GR is the best. I do not recommend you send your child to barbourville the staff are rude and stuck up and the kids are just as bad !

I know both GR and Lay offer a lot of different activities. GR constantly has things going on, the PTO stays busy planning and doing things. Lay does as well. They both offer dance teams for younger and older girls, both girls and boys basketball teams and A and B team cheerleading squads. I do believe they both offer First Priority and academic teams. GR just had a dinner and a show plus talent variety show. Either school would be a good choice. I hope this helps you.

Gr offers a lot of extras for
Kids of all
Ages and they also off crafts in wheels once a week
Where children of any ages stay after school get a snack and do a craft project. They have academic who won 1st in the county and got to go to keenland for a field trip their 6th grade just went to mammoth cave. They do
The ar reading points and ever 9 weeks who ever met their good gets to go on a filed trip. As far as academics the teachers help any child who might be struggling no child is left behind. They are caring also. I tell you what will help your mind call and plan a visit mr. West and then talk to both k teachers mrs. Allen and each teacher esp mrs. Warren. The pto always has things going on. And the resource lady is a Christine along with the principal and she sings in a gospel group. Also if each student doesn't miss all week they get a free bag of popcorn on fri as a snack. Good luck
