If these roads were scraped and salted, Knox County Schools could have had school sooner! Certain county roads were treated!

i agree with you where i live is on a gravel road. Lived here for 20 years and nothing has every been done for the road if the roads were blacked topped the could have school. The community of stinking creek need to get up some petitions . J m Hall needs to work the roads instead of hiding and never in office. But when election time comes Stinking! Band together and unite and vote J M hall out. And most of the roads are small sections that leave off the Black Top. It took almost a year to get a tile replaced that was flooding the road. Keith Abner is magistrate he won't get not votes on stinking creek.

So you folks are good with increasing your property taxes and Rent for your homes to cover the costs that would be required if the County plowed every road in it? So far when such taxes were on the ballots they have failed to get the votes... When a a snow storm comes you have a limited amount of time to get to those roads you need plowed the most and if you want them All Done you would need Many more trucks and Much more Salt ... That would mean paying more drivers, more gas, more maintenance all of which cost Money and the County does not have it's own printing press for cash ... So they have to set priorities based on the available funding the County has ....

It sounds easy until you look at a Very Poor County that has lost several of it's major companies and cannot get large increases in taxes passed through the voting process... And then the last attempt to get more taxes coming into the county via the Wet Vote was voted down..

Your better off talking to a brick wall the only thing people around here understand is give me. They don't understand some roads (non-conuty roads) was black-topped as favers or to get votes. They don't understand the county would get in trouble to maintan there driveways.

If people would get up and walk there kids to those certain treated county roads would help too. I don't think walking a mile or two is going to hurt noone.

It seems to be a normal situation and has been for decades... Many of the folks want to keep the county in a early 1900's lifestyle and vote down pretty much any plans that would bring growth and revenues but yet want the benefits of a 21st century world...

The Wet Vote would have been a first step and without it the next steps cannot happen...

You cannot get qualified teachers and educators to come to an area where there is little to do in your off hours and a low tax base to pay for the needed upgrades in the local schools...

You cannot get companies to start up in an area where there is little for the company to offer in local entertainment, restaurants and shopping... Reducing the tax income to help better the education of our children so they can fill jobs in those companies...

You cannot get restaurants, entertainment venues and assorted stores to locate in an area that does not have a growing population with the companies hiring people that have to money to spend at those entertainment venues and stores...

And you cannot attract entertainment venue and outsiders to create companies and open store with without the ability of those entertainment venues and restaurants to serve beer wine and alcohol..

Without that we are left with a situation where those that do complete high school find they have extremely limited opportunities for jobs and even less in finding a college that they can get into and afford... The ones that can get into a good college seldom return to the area... Once our Best and Brightest can leave they do so leaving behind our large population of those that have limited skills and education to become our meth heads, pill heads and thieves....

Yep sure am. better than being a person who's a Fat, Lazy, Crybaby that calls others names if they say something they don't want to do. Some people can blam others but when the blams on them they throw a hissey. I walked out of a hollow every morning to go to school by my self and back home. From 2nd to 4th three years! Just so I could have something to eat each day. And your crying cause someone told you to walk. Has the world gone mad must just be me. Get off your sorry as$ and do something besides blaming others with your diC4 sucker.

Times have changed since those days, Hard working people pay high taxes, High property taxes as well as high insurance on their automobiles!! It's dangerous for children and adults to walk the roads these days of time! People use to be afraid of hitchhiker's, Today it's the hitchhiker who is afraid of who might pick them up!! You could leave your doors unlocked then to your house, not now, When you leave your house now you have to make sure everything is locked, Alarm on and cameras rolling!!

I know where Redford is. I grew up not far from there. Use to be a great area. Still some nice people are still around there. I use to go to a bar on Grand River and Telegraph.when I lived in Old Redford.

There is just not the resources to salt every county road in Knox County.

I do think that our resources could be used just a little better:

* Everyone who has their driveway graveled should county themselves lucky.

Redford High was actually in Detroit not Redford and I live in Brightmoor community in Detroit which was not as up scale as Redford .. Today Brightmoor is a abandoned mess with only 1 in 15 homes still standing and most of the neighborhood a wasteland...

Any reason better than none at all. Times do change some things stay the same.If it's as dangerous as you say why has noone got Johnny Walker yet? Leaveing your house unlocked is just plain dumb. If it's such a big problem for you to lock your doors you better never leave your house again. If you put as much time into fixing your problems as you do in finding them. You would find times are better than you think! Also who would let there children walk the roads by there self?

Life's not fair so why worry about what others have or get. everything I got I've got my self noone can say well they did this or that for me. It kinda makes me feel proud. That if I want something I work hard to get it done. If I wanted my road clear I don't cry for somebody else to do it. I get a shovel and go to work. I'm may be layed up in the bed hurting for a few days afterwords. But a lease I did something myself and didn't have to depend on somebody else to do it for me. If you want somebody to give you something I'll give you a good kick in the rear to get you in gear. Come to think of it I know alot of people who need a good kick to help them get there head out of there rear.

The Law states that if there are 3 homes on a drive or road it comes under County Maintenance unless it's a Designated non maintenance route or under other local governance such as City or Privatized Sub Division....
