Yes ... IF (Some Big If's) If you are Legally allowed to own the handgun (Not a felon, over 18, Kentucky Resident with valid ID).. And the handgun is in Plain Sight meaning on the dash board, on the passenger seat, in a Holster Not covered by a shirt or in the Glove Box (Not in the Console if the vehicle has a Console Box And Not under the seat..) And if you are not in the process of committing a crime... If you pick up the weapon and are seen holding it while in the car and someone calls to cops you can be arrested for Brandishing a Firearm...

But all that said.. If a cop walks up to your car and sees it you may spend a bit of time in cuffs until the officer runs the weapon and You through the computer to verify you and the firearm are clean...

Actually they changed the law a couple years ago. It can be in a factory installed console.

I only go by what is in print and I have seen no KY publication allowing it in the console... Do you have a Link to the New Law? The Controlling KY-Doc's I posted say specifically not allowed in the console ....

Does anyone know when they are going to be having another class? Also, can you use any gun in the class or does it have to be a certain one or what? I would like to get my permit.:)

There are several guys giving classes in the county but I don't know who they are ... But you can call the B'Ville PD and ask when they will be having the next class as the class is held in the PD offices... As for the firearm yes you can use any handgun you choose for the qualifications which are shot out on the range after the class... They asked that the folks in my group fire 20 rounds each on a target at 20 foot... but that was a while ago... If you give the PD a call they can fill you in on the times, costs and requirements for the course...

The clas is an 8 hour class, mainly going over all the laws and regulations concerning use of a firearm, where you can and cannot carry, safety, care and feeding and a bunch of scare you stuff about things like you other see a guy holding a woman on the ground at gun point so you and shoot him to save her, only to find out She was a killer he was a plain clothes cop and you now are going to spend the rest of your life in prison.. that kinda stuff... And you get a Cert but it has to been sent through the County PD to the state and then the state has to send your card back to the county PD office and you have to go get it... Takes a few weeks from time you take the course until you have your card and can carry concealed.. The Cert does not give you authority to carry... After the cert is sent to the state they run a full background check before they issue the card... If they find a problem such as a lie on the paper work, mental illness records with the state, criminal record in any state you will not get the card and can be arrested for falsifying your application....
