I own 3 properties and have 1 kid already out of school, why do I have to educate the 5 children of an unemployed trailer park ho that has never worked a day in her life, has never put a cent into the property tax coffers. To make it worse, they can actually vote on how my money is spent.

I am a teacher in Knox County. For all you whiners complaining about a nickel tax I would like you all to consider some facts. As of last year we still had the arrogant Mr. Hulett as superindent, two asst superintendents that belittled everyone in the entire system. This last school year was great with them gone!! This new board with an exception of one,, has changed the attitudes of the school system, treats everyone with respect. I feel like I want to go and teach our kids more than ever. We also got a 1% much deserved raise last year with another coming. With federal and state monies being cut, where do you think they can or will look for additional money? I as a ten year teacher of Knox county beg you to support increase for tax, it is for all of our children.
Teacher, why are you on this site instead of teaching? Why does your location say Paris? I live on 229 and my location shows up different but never that far away. I do believe you are trying to keep your board from looking bad and I do not believe you are a teacher. Teachers on FB said 2 weeks ago that the raise was mostly taken by retirement. With no assistants and a bought off board, I think the school system is becoming a dictatorship.

Local business men pushing for certain candidates as revenge for board decisions are willing to spend it! Not about the kids.

Thank you so much for your interest into my personal life. I am taking a sick day due to my daughter has strep throat. I posted my response on my Verizon phone from the pediatrician's office on London while I was waiting. Now about the raise of 2% I don't know about you but I am appreciative of everything I receive. Common sense will tell you even if some goes to retirement
It is still benefitting us. Knox county schools has more to offer for our kids than ever and I applaud the school board for having the guts to do it.

I am sorry your school district has no money but I don't have children in school. Thank God they went to college and left this place. I am on a retired income and I don't have the extra money to help pay for all the waste I see the school system do. Tax something that will be fair to ALL people. Pop, cigs, fast food. Leave us people that have paid and paid taxes to the school system and see the results. I seen the test scores. Money is not going to help that! WASTE

Also I am glad you got 1% raise but when you draw retirement you get no raises especially what the board is asking for. 5 cent taxes plus increase on property. How do u think people are suppose to live? Only people who own property will be affected, how about all the people who rent and they have 4-5 kids in school. Not fair and tired of it

I think Knox County needs a petition for taxes and alcohol. Someone mentioned alcohol revenue. It's a great idea, problem is that all the town sneaks out of town to drink because they don't want their Sunday cover blown. Bring the alcohol and our county will prosper from the revenue. Heck maybe we could get a drive In with revenue. If we ban together this can be fixed.

The money is for a new building. They have a pic of it on FB. Makes them looks good I guess. If they are able to build a new school why can they not afford building upgrades and pay raises? Or better yet, some of the money paid to get certain board members in??? They could name the building after Carnell that way. Better read fast before they have the post removed.

Good thought. Carnell already has the bypass named after him so why not a new Sprinkles building? Yeah going need tax money to pay!

when I was making my truck payment this morning I thought about this and it seems to me that we are paying high end taxes for such a low end school system.

Where will this be built? Who has the bids to do the work? Who is getting rich off of it? I can't afford a truck payment but I agree with gator!

I own multiple properties in Knox co and I think this is a bs tax hike. I will vote against these board members that voted for this and campaign hard for who runs against them. It wouldn't be so bad to pay a lil extra if our kids got a half ass education but look at the test scores has the money really been working for education?
More money?

1 liqour store on the square would generate enough revenue to fund the school system .. but we are to stupid to keep the money in our own town. Thanks to a few bigmouths religious fanatics the whole county pays.
Please dont blame that on religion. I am a Christian and the reason I voted NO on the alcohol sales is because people in Knox County already act like nuts and to give them liquor and have them running around the court square is not a very bright idea in my book. If they want to go to Corbin or London to drink then let them go. People around here are not responsible enough to handle alcohol in town.
no tax increase!!

I absolutely do NOT support any tax increase!! There is do much waste in the school system and no accountability. Still useless jobs that are just leadership assistants!! No increases until a thorough audit of all jobs!!
