I grew up in Barbourville in the 1960's and it was Out of state students going to union that introduced Barbourville to the first hippies. It was out of state students going to union that introduced Barbourville to pot, then L.S.D.and other hard drugs. It was out of state students that introduced Barbourville with Blacks and Whites walking around hand in hand. Yep, they benefited Barbourville a whole lot I think.

College kids introduced Barbourville to marijuana? Really..? Is that your position? Just because that's when you became aware of the situation in no way indicates the very beginning of pot in SE Ky., or any other drug for that matter. That's a very self centered approach.

Blacks and whites walking hand in hand? No friggin way! I bet that's where meth came from. I go to EKU, but am from Barbourville, and I can think of pros that far outweigh the biggoted cons that you've managed to type out between fits of racist turret rage. Obviously you're unable to wrap your head around the entire situation, but don't assume that others can't.

I will say that I am an Education major at UC and I was very poor when I started there. I will graduate in May and I have gotten lots of help financially through aid and loans. Union did not ever ofer me a lower price to go there, but I have never paid for anything yet. If you say that you cant afford to go there that is a bunch of crap because I have never been turned down for a loan or aid so I wont have to pay until I am ready.. I dont owe 20,000 yet. I may be poor, but I will be able to handle it once I graduate. People who say they can't afford college are only making excuses and trying to place blame on something other thatn the true culprit: themsleves.
Correct me if I am wrong but I am under the impression that this specific topic concerns a college and I have to say the grammar and writing skills displayed on this thread in general are appaling. If this is an accurate representation of the students/alumni of Union College than we can all agree that a very real problem exists. Having said that, I too am a recent graduate of Union College and must admit that while I found the professors in my area of study (history)to be wonderful teachers very knowledgeable in their field, it occurs to me that there is a very clear conflict of interest happening in the the education department of the college. The President of Union College holds only a masters degree and his wife is now the Dean of both Graduate Studies and the College of Education. While this alone is suspect she has also taken a leave of absence during the Education programs reaccredidation process. I do not want to make any assumptions because we all know the problem with assumptions, but it begs the question: Coincidence?

Sure, I will correct you.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am under the impression that this specific topic concerns a college. I have to say, that the grammar and writing skills that are displayed on this thread in general are appalling. Thank You "hey". Not being nosey or anything but roughly how much do you usually get reimbursed? I'll be receiving Pell grant, Cap grant, SUB and UNSUB student loans... I think they said it's like $9000 a semester.

well, it all depends on how much your books cost, although I would recommend buying them somewhere else besides e-campus. Seriously, you would be better off to pay out of pocket, such a rip off.

It also depends if you are living on campus. But, Tuition and general expenses are $18,260. That doesn't account for books and room and board. You may not be getting any back if all you got is 9k.

I took out extra loans so I could get enough back to cover my books, although I paid for them out of pocket.

As a student of Union College in Barbourville, Ky, I feel that their 1:1 policy is bull shit. They do not care about anyone but themselves, and all together they are a poor excuse for an educational institution.
