What are you talking about? MLK was a man and the parade honors that man. He represents many things to a lot of people of various cultures and backgrounds. How do you compare honoring one man with a parade for a group like whites, Asians or Indians? You've created an apples and oranges situation for no apparent reason, unless you have some unstated preconceptions or prejudices that prevent you from thinking clearly.

If there were a parade for a remarkable figure like Ghandi, for instance, many people would attend. Would you say something as ludicrous as "Why not a parade for whites, etc?"
If there were a parade for Sequoyah, people would attend. Would you say, "Why not a parade for the Sioux?".
If there were a parade to honor John F. Kennedy, there would be overwhelming attendance. Would you whine about it? "Oh no, I don't understand why there is not a parade for protestants?".
The fact that these parades may or may not exist is moot. Start a parade for whatever person or "group" you want to celebrate and if enough people think you have a reason to celebrate, it will happen. Otherwise, you have no reason to complain, especially when your complaint is tainted by illogical thought processes.

If the OP hosted a walk, it would be white men of a certain age, with their women walking behind. I would have to come here and post a complaint that there was no parade for us old white women who know what it is like to make 77 cents less an hour for the same job a man does. That WOULD be a big parade.

The results of the 60's no matter who you support is "THE DUMBING DOWN OF AMERICA"
King, womens equality, all helped and continue to dumb down the society. By-passing more qualified and more intellegent people and placing less qualified and intellegent people in positions of leadership and reseach and authority. Thats the bottom line folks, in the 50's and early 60's we were world leaders in almost all catagories, presently we are close to being on the bottom of the same catagories. That is what you are celebrating so be happy.
Obama day is coming soon, that should finish us off.

The new "Low Standard" of the American populace as a whole,(requires) these people you mention become national heroes. One must be experienced in drug use, w*oreing around, extortion, homosexual activities or islam or just flat out being a liar...any of these qualities qualify you fto become a political leader. The more you accept perverted people the closer you become to being a national hero and obtaining your national holiday in your name......The "New" American standard .

The aforementioned people have all attained the qualifications of which you speak and have become legends in their own minds. They will fall short of becoming national heros but so did mlk. He was a womanizing cheat that did nothing positive for this country. He just stirred the shit and started riots. No big loss there. Let's have an oprah holiday too. How about a mooshelle obama holiday?

At one time in this country the standard for perfection was 100% Begining with John Kennedy and up to today the standard for perfection keeps lowering to accomidate the blacks, the women, the illegal imigrants, the gang bangers, on and on and on. Each new inclusion keeps lowering the curve that folks are now seeking to meet. At one time Idaho meant a state now it could mean a state or a ho named Ida. Guess thats just progress but what are we progressing to? Europe or Africa or Mexico, certainly not Asia, they still have a work ethic.

What was funny is how the local paper compared MLK to some young "leaders" like West and Lake
