Been a UK fan all my life, and this guy sucks! All the talent in the world couldn't save him, although it did win him one title.
He has no idea on how to coach players or figure out a plan to beat the other team.
Florida beat the crap out of us last night.
We were not prepared going in to the game, and when it started he couldn't think of anything to keep it close!
This team hasn't gotten any better all season. They haven't beaten a good team yet, and probably won't. Here is a prediction, Nerlens injury will be his scape goat, and excuses at the end of the year will fly. No player has gotten better all year, the play still sucks, and now we are in serious jeopardy of not making the ncaa's. great job cal, I'm really beginning to believe you suck and are only as good as the players make you.

Cal is an amazing coach. He must be doing something right, he loses his best players to the NBA every year. He is the only coach that has to reload every season. He doesn't have mature starters and he continues to do well every season. His record speaks for itself! The reason they aren't doing well this season is because they have to many selfish players and they don't have a point guard. If a team doesn't have a good point guard they can't do well. I hope Goodwin doesn't come back next season. Harrow would make a good back up point, but he just doesn't have what it takes to be the starting point. He doesn't even compare to the last 3 point guards.

amazing at what? Excuses excuses! You can't see the Forrest for the trees! And you say you are a Kentucky fan, it's fans like you that keep the tradition of stupid Kentucky fans going! What coach doesn't lose it's best players each year? You do realize that some college players graduate, right? There isn't a pro on this years team, you do realize that too? He has had this team since late summer, do they look good to you? Probably, so let me sell you some ocean front property in Kentucky. Do you think for one minute the elite8, which we lost in so what does that mean, the FF or championship was because of this nitwit leading our team? Cal is an idiot! Have you ever been to a real game in rupp? Sat close enough to the bench to hear him holler instructions? He babbles, yells and cheers like some drunken dude in a bar! He doesn't know what to do, ever! I mean was he the first person to think of "Dribble then drive" really? We haven't seen it since he coached Derrick rose or John wall!

blinded by the light? What happens when the kids he recruits figures out that he does very little to help them get ready for the NBA? Did he help Davis or did Davis help him gain some more undeserving coaching hype? Did you watch the game last night, or were you looking at those accolades that a bunch of pro basketball kids playing in a UK uniform gave PayPal Cal?

OP (Original Poster, just in case), you have no idea what you're talking about. Coach Cal does not suck and you know this. I believe you said, "Oh, he sucks, but he won a national title". You're damn right he won a title. He's been at UK, now in his 4th season, and went Elite 8, Final Four, National Title. What sucks about that? Nothing!

You have to remember Calipari is there to guide these young men and help them develop their game to the NBA level (minus Polson, Hood, Wiltjer, and the walk-on players). These players may be 18-19 years old, but most every year, our best players know their NBA bound after one season. He can coach, it's our players who are not performing.

No matter what he tells them, they're not listening too much this year to his advice and it's showing. He lays the plan and groundwork for the gameplan, they are not executing. These guys have been playing ball most of their lives, minus Cauley-Stein, who was one heck of a WR in football. Could you imagine?

So, it's not his coaching that sucks, it's our players fault for many reasons. They are not soaking in what they need to know to win big games, they're holding their head after a turnover or missed shot (Mainly, Poythress and Harrow) so they get to go to the bench. They sap the energy out of the whole team.

Think about what you are saying! He has laid the groundwork each year to take us all the way. But he's not on the court playing! If he was, you could say he sucked, but he does his part each and every game. Sure, he'll take credit if he feels he didn't do his best job coaching a game where we lose.

But, OUR PLAYERS HAVE TO EXECUTE! They are the ones on the court, they are the ones scoring the points, they are the ones playing defense, they are the ones that will win the game. Coaching only goes so far and Calipari does his part.

What a moronic statement, I can't believe I even have to write this.

One more thing, read your post one more time. I have to make one point. Florida beat the crap out of us because they were the better team. You said Cal couldn't think of anything to keep it close? You think he just called a timeout and told them to go out there and run screens and kick it in the low post? Heck no, you know better.

They obviously were not prepared for the pressure Florida was going to put on them. And it showed when they unleashed the press. Remember that Donovan was a Pitino assistant, which shows when Florida unleashed a dominating press that we struggled with a few times.

But they beat the crap out of us because of two things, really a couple things. Florida was statiscally and on paper the better team. They have talent and they are not a joke this year. They have great players.

Second, in the first half, we had 10 field goals and 11 turnovers. That's pathetic and that's not Cal's fault. He didn't turn the ball over for them.

Next, you have to remember that we played poor defense last night. Florida had made the most three's in SEC league play at 99 coming into last night's game. The second closest team was Vanderbilt, who had made 79. I know Coach Cal told the players to guard that perimeter, it was their fault they failed to play defense. What worries me with Noel's injury is that if Wiltjer wasn't so damn slow, I might feel better. He's got to really pick it up. If he had speed and could keep up, it would help us content, even without Noel.

And it didn't help we made a rally with over 8 minutes to play in the second half and almost cut it to single digits, then Noel goes down. I got a feeling if Noel had not got hurt, we would've had a chance. I think the players knew how bad it was that it destroyed any momentum we had built.

in one line you give coach cal the credit about winning, and when losing you blame the players, and you call me the moron? You my friend are blinded by the sales pitch that is coach cal! Pitino, Roy Williams, coach k, Michigan states coach all would have this team playing well, not like the joke they are. You realize if we played a tougher schedule we would easily have 10 loses? You talk the talk but you have no idea, only a real true blue fan understands that cal sucks! Defending him just proves your lack of basketball knowledge. Try watching games, rather than counting trophies!

your last paragraph takes the cake! You say all these things that the players can't do when cal prepared them, then you use the Nerlens injury as an excuse! Wow! There is a reason that all other fans of college basketball laugh at our fan base, and you are a pretty good example! Cal cannot coach, plain and simple! He is a moocher, and a great pied piper as he lures recruits to come here! He doesn't get them ready at all for the pro game! He sucked there too you know! The players make him more than he makes them, facts r tough I know! You like Louisville don't you?
