Tiger's Den doesn't let children teach. Only the instructor teaches, and if he is absent (very rarely absent) a qualified black belt student (10+ years training) leads class for the day.

While very good advice "The Specialist", there are times when guns are not available for self-defense, such as in a "no gun zone" like a school or post office etc. Also not everyone chooses to carry a weapon on their person, they leave the weapon in the vehicle or some other location and may not have time to retrieve it. Everyone should learn at least basic self-defense hand to hand and grappling, especially women.

You have a good point. A little hand to hand is always handy to know.

If your talking about the one next to the sheriffs office then somebody doesn't know what they're talking about. I study at that dojo and the instructor, Chris, is very skilled at what he teaches. It isn't a joke. And kids are kids. They are there to have a good time and learn what they can as "children". Which is the way I feel it should be for them. Then, as they age and mature, they learn more than just basic techs. Any instructor that expects more than that from a child should stop teaching and learn more themselves regardless of his/her skill level. They're several differently rank students in the class. One person cannot teach different skill levels at the same time. If someone tried that then there would be people who never learned anything. So we split into groups after warming up. Kids may help in the groups but they never teach. Its called practice. That's how we learn things yes? The price per month is 30 dollars for a single person. Chris does offer family rates also. It's a small town dojo that is there for anyone to attend. I'm satisfied. I just wish more people would join. Wouldn't mind seeing some new faces in there. Sorry for the long post lol.
