We just wanted to clear things up a bit. Weeks ago the campers at TP Campground got together and made plans for this weedend. We organized events and planned activities among ourselves. Each camper was assigned a different activitey to be in charge of. It would have been safe, fun and private.
When the word got out the city and Mayor dicided to invite the entire town as a polotical stunt. This destroyed our plans in which that we had invested time and money.
The campers did not organize this weekend for the entire community and do not want the whole community involved. How would you like someone invite the whole town to your house without asking. Yes, it kind of made us madd.
We the campers feel like that we have been taken advantage of because we paid our twenty-five dollars per night to help secure our privacy.

I agree with you 100%! Hopefully the public will be confined in the area around the playground and away from the private campers and camping area. My advice is to stay near your camper at all times because it wouldn't surprise me if you don't have strays trying to come in and make themselves at home in your camper! Also, I think the campers could always organize the previously planned activities away from the crowd, like maybe between the rows of campers or somewhere like that. Certainly doesn't make it right, but at least we might have a tiny amount of privacy. Really a bad situation to put people in.

most of those campers have kids who ride bikes on that track with no one watching them and run around all over the park and had 4 wheelers on the track a while back when a 87 year old woman was walking but nobody even cared so it goes both ways

It has nothing to do with not liking kids! I also have children, as do 99.9 % of the people that regularly camp at Thompson Park. How would you feel if you paid for a hotel room and someone invited the whole county to come to your room? What would have been the problem with having a county-wide halloween celebration over by the waterpark? And exactly who is giving out candy at Thompson Park? Are the campers supposed to give out candy?

I think some of the campers just want to be able to drink & party. That's why they don't want kids around, but again they were drinking & partying in front of thier own kids at daniel boone camping

By all means, lets take the one good thing that has happened in Barbourville in a while and destroy it! This is a perfect example of why Barbourville can not have anything. Get a life!

A few bad apples, and I do mean bad apples, spoil the whole damn basket.

Thanks to the City of Barbourville for such a wonderful park. It a blessing for the children of this community.

Please come to the RV campsite for trick or treating. Don't let what a few campers have said keep you away. They will be lots of campers there who will welcome you. It's going to be great fun!!!
Hope to see everyone there at 5:30 for the hayride & bonfire. Please wear warm clothes!!

I would think that as far as the campground is concerned, it would be a fairly simple matter of roping that area off with yellow tape to separate it from the rest of the park. I would think the city would work with you on this and help you keep it private. I can certainly understand that a mob of unsupervised children could be not only an anoyance but a safety concern.

However, if you're miffed that you will not have the entire park as your private playground, you really have no right. It is a public park.
