Does anyone know when the annual meeting is for 2013? I wouldn't mind having my name on the ballot for the Board.

The RECC buys its electricity--they are not a producer--and sells it to customers at a 50-60% mark-up. RECC began, back in the day, because KU would not run lines into some places they did not consider profitable enough. The local people, who had no electricity, actually pitched-in and helped RECC set poles and run lines to their area where KU left off. That was GOOD BACK THEN...no other way to get electricity for their home. However RECC has long outlived its usefulness and, today, is just a VERY OVERPRICED electricity source. However, unlike phones, cable, etc., a person cannot switch their electrical provider if they are stuck with RECC. All RECC's are dinosours and have long outlived their original purpose. The Kentucky legislature should enact a law requiring all RECC's to sell-out to companies that actually produce electricity, like KU. Why should unlucky RECC customers be required to pay 50-60% more than KU for the same amount of electricity usage? That is simply not fair or right. Isn't it irrational that some people living miles from town--on Stinking Creek--have KU, and a much lower bill, than RECC customers living near Barbourville? However, don't hold your breath waiting for anything to change RECC.

IDK but it is a ripoff. I have one lamp and one security light and it's $30 a month! With the heat set on 55 it gets up to about $130. That is about average of the house I live in. Outrageous!

So what do you think a Store should do? If they see their energy, shipping and product costs go up are you saying they should keep the same price even if they lose money.. IGA actually only makes about a 2% profit, Grocery Stores are one of the lowest profit biz's in the US... They like all other companies stay in biz and pay their employees based on making a profit... When they don't make a profit they close their doors and those workers are out of work...
Look at Your bills over the last couple of years... All the companies out there have those bills also... As their cost to do Biz goes up they either have to raise prices to you or close the doors... And on top of that they have to follow crap loads of new regulations and the paperwork that goes with it, Which requires paying people to do that work... And when the Government Taxes those Mean Old Rich Guys (That own and operate Stores, companies ect) we tax You.. We tax the minimum wage earner because those increase in Costs to those Rich Guys is past to You in the price of goods and services you have to pay for to survive....
IGA has done this for years.their fried chicken is normally 4.99 a bucket, but from the first of the month until about the tenth of the month it is 7.99 a bucket. That's just a rip off,i don't care how you look at it.

I heard they raise your bill if you use the heating assistance program through KCEOC, for those who heat with total electric. Our bill is always around $60 per month except in the summer when we have to use our central air unit around the clock but we've never went through the heat program.

I'm on RECC, I pay 115.00 a month for budget, this past month my actual bill was 187.00 for the month of Jan. but when I settle up in the late summer, I break even, I own them nothing and they own me nothing. Works out great for me. I like knowing what I pay each month. I live in a 3 bedroom modular home, and keep the heat on 74, I can't stand a cold house. I have no complaints about RECC. WE settle and I keep paying the same thing year round.I'm on a fixed income and I am totally happy with what I pay.

I got my electric bill yesterday, and it is the largest electric bill it has ever been. Thank God this has not been a bad winter, I have not changed one thing in my house to cause this to be. It seems like when the KCEOC gives money to help the poor people pay their electric bill they seem to raise their price just kinda like the Gas stations do. Someday, sometime, whoever is in charge of this price gouging will pay for what their doing and i don't believe they will pay with money.(It simply Greed)Folks.

Now that the Asian company bought K.U they find a reason to raise the bill every six months to a year. Before it's all said and done with all the raises, K.U will be higher than R.E.C.C,

You watch and see.

I have lived with KU most of my life, and I have also dealt with Barbourville Utilities. RECC is by FAR the most expensive I have ever dealt with. I work a fulltime job but I am also a single mom. I keep my heat on 70 degrees. I trun off unused lights and I live in a newer mobile home. I do qualify for the heating assistance program but because I had to work I couldn't get there at 5 in the morning. By the time I got there, they were out of funds and I even told them that there were people who were getting $200 in kerosene vouchers and selling them for $100 cash (no I didn't give them names, just that it was going on, I ain't a rat). They just need to control this aspect better. I went to RECC after I got my cutoff notice on Tuesday and told them I got paid on Friday, is there anyway that they would work with me? The lady in charge of billing was the RUDEST customer service person I have ever dealt with. My bill was $352 and I asked for a 2 day extension. RECC has my $195 deposit so even if I left they would get most of their money back. She was completely rude even told me that I was looking for a handout. I work, I go to school and I raise my kids. I am not on the draw, nor do I get food stamps nor do I get medical cards. If I don't have to have it, then I don't need it. She was really RUDE and in tears, I asked for her supervisor. She told me that she didn't have a supervisor. When I got to the front office, I asked about a phone number for someone over that office and they told me she did have a supervisor. I spoke with him. He wanted me to have sympathy because they had a staff member die but he didn't care that me and my kids were about to be without electric. I ended up having to borrow money from a check place. I did pay that back on that Friday. Some people need help, but RECC is full of heartless people who have no empathy for anyone. I am getting ready to move to another place that has KU electric. This whole company is heartless, rude, and definitely lacking in Customer Service. I also launched a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

If you pay $115 why did you have to pay $187? Just curious..

R.E.C.C Don't have to worry about the government taking our guns. R.E.C.C will rob you with a BIC pen and a piece of paper.

In R.E.C.C's case, the pen is mightier than the sword!

Shyte! When I was on K.U. my bill was $49.00 a month on average. On R.E.C.C I've seen a bill that was as high as $250.00.

Had to change my draws after seeing that. So that was another $9.00 dollars at Wal-Mart.
