maybe so but the guy was well pleased with it,he got his life back at least.he was a barber an everyone stopped going to him so he left town.but he did return home after all was over.the thing is he could,nt even remember the woman, she said she had worked with him 10 years earlier.i think they should be a cheaper an easier way to put a stop to people doing this to other people.i think there only cowards, thats just my opinion.

It's actually a simple fix... And you are guilty of being part of the problem... You do not reg your name and you use a anon server... The Fix is to require anyone posting to have a Reg'ed account so they can be held responsible for their posts by the public at large... If a Reg'ed poster makes statements that are vile and cause harm their account will be closed and their E-Mail log in address banned... This then requires they make a new ID and get a new Email addy to reg... In short order that becomes such a effort to do every time your account is dropped the Bad Eggs vanish and you are left with a Responsible set of posters...

If Topix required people such as yourself to Reg with a varified E-Mail account then people would take care to make their posts or would not post in the first place as they would not only be held responsible by the Topix Moderators but by the public at large in their area...

i agree with what you are saying,an if i was a regular on topix i would without a doubt be registered.the fact is i only put this on here because a friend of mine was bashed to death on here for something that he did,nt do.an i just happen to see the tv show last night.but i think it should be a law that everyone should have to register.

Well you would find if You did register that there are many, many other Reg'ed users that have very in-depth debates and discussions on many and varied topics... Beside the Local Area threads such as this one there are threads on everything from science, astronomy, physics, politics, religion, current events and many, many others... Once you register you will be addressed by other reg'ed users completely differently than you are as a Anon user ... Yes you will still have Anon users make all sorts of ignorant and idiotic posts to you but You have the advantage of being able to stand on your post history... They have no history so are given little value overall...

If you check on this you'll also see that he has received not one single penny from the suit. The woman had nothing he could take. So while he won, he'll almost likely never get a penny from winning.

But if it was me, it would be enough to just know who posted it so I could take care of that person.

Topix should require everyone that posts to Register with a valid E-Mail addy, before they can be allowed to post. Gray boxer's should not be permitted.

I think that anonymity is a big lure of this site. Its how they make their money, from the hits. You get raw bullshit data on here from your community. Not much truth, but you definitely can get opinions on a person, issue, event, etc. that you cant get anywhere else. It also seems to me that if you live a clean life, your odds of being brought up on here in a post are extremely low. Personally, I like anonymity, and I miss the internet from the 90s when it all was that way, before the social revolution. It all has a place, I guess.

You obviously don't know how simple it is to make throw away e-mail accounts. Some aren't even permanent.

So they find out they're banned, it takes them 3 minutes to set up a new account (if not less) and they're back to trolling for a few weeks.

That fixes nothing.

Pay to set up your own forum, then you can decide on the rules.

Until then, you're posting on someone else's dime. Deal with it.

I already explained why e-mails won't fix anything. It didn't fix anything back in the days of chat rooms, and it won't now, with more e-mail services than ever.

I am fully aware of such... and the effort to do so every time you Reged account is tossed would in short order eliminate 99% of the idiot posters... Not only do they have to take the time to set up the email account, they have to go through the Topix reg process and then go to their email account and verify the email is good... Most of the problem people on Topix barely can type cohesive sentences much less redo from scratch every time they are tossed to the curb....

I read some of the things on topix if they have any interest to me if not I just click off and go on to something else Most of it makes no differance to me. I have had people to say things about me that wern't true and I knew it wasn't so it did matter they are the one that lied not me I just hope that I will be able to say somethings that will help others and not hurt anyone.
