Pretty sure that Wendy was hired based on John Knox Mill's motion...and someone else's second. So how does that make David "involved" in the process? If a Judge recommends someone would you go against them and say no? I am also pretty sure that at the time Wendy was running the water park, the council didn't want anything to do with it. Plus no one else wanted the job. David took steps to correct the issues brought up in the audit. He had less to do with some of the decisions brought up in the audit than many of you think. Isn't our Mayor position a Council-managed position? Does anyone have a copy of Barbourville's charter?
The other thing is the council should have waited to oust him until the findings of the Attorney General came back. They were very premature with the whole voting him out thing. This will end up coming back to bite them in the rear. The auditor basically told them to fix the problems. It's the council members who decided to take it upon themselves to vote him out. All because of a drunk and a certain person who wants the Mayoral seat. This agenda has been in motion for months now. secret meetings behind closed doors. I sure wish these people had the balls to admit their own faults instead of making it seem like david was the only one pulling the strings.
Here are the types of "mayor" positions: there are several distinct types of mayors, depending on the system of local government. Under council-manager government, the mayor is a first among equals on the city council, which acts as a legislative body while executive functions are performed by the appointed manager. The mayor may chair the city council, but lacks any special legislative powers. The mayor and city council serve part-time, with day-to-day administration in the hands of a professional city manager. The system is most common among medium sized cities from around 25,000 to several hundred thousand, usually rural and suburban municipalities.
In the second form, known as mayor-council government, the mayoralty and city council are separate offices. Under a strong mayor system, the mayor acts as an elected executive with the city council exercising legislative powers. He or she may select a chief administrative officer to oversee the different departments. This is the system used in most of the United States' large cities, primarily because mayors serve full-time and have a wide range of services that they oversee. In a weak mayor or ceremonial mayor system, the mayor has appointing power for department heads but is subject to checks by the city council, sharing both executive and legislative duties with the council. This is common for smaller cities, especially in New England. Charlotte, North Carolina and Minneapolis, Minnesota are two notable large cities with a ceremonial mayor.
So who has a town charter that tells us exactly what type of Mayoral seat we have??????????

I would lke to know who has been doing the audits in the past, who chose them , why they found nothing unusual or irreguar. Wouldnt this be on public record since it was paid for with public funds?

I think you have a lot of miss-information.If he wasn't allowed to hire his wife ,how did he?Because he's the Mayor?I call bullshit. If they let him do it ,then let's get the ball rolling on everyone involved.
To the best of my knowledge the city wasn't supposed to get any of the concession money.I think the deal was something like.(she runs the park and concession. She provides all the pop,candy.etc.She pays her staff and so many of the park staff for the concession money.) so why was she supposed to turn it in?The city got the gate money and she got concession.
As far as the check cashing.I want proof! I bet you can ask any of the people that he cashed a check for and they will tell you it was legit.Go ask them your self.
As far as the paying double. For what?I don't know anything about that.
This whole thing is just a bunch of mud slinging for election time. Most sheeple are going to just hear these words and see this on tv and think it's the truth without actual facts and or circumstances that led to it.
I think they should have waited to see what the attorney general has to say about it
before voting him out.
If David runs again he has my vote and the support of my whole family.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports results from the special examination were released Tuesday and said multiple problems led to financial mismanagement.
Findings included that the city and some of its boards did not obtain bids before purchasing products and paid more for property than it was worth.
Mayor David Thompson did not return a call from the newspaper, but said in a written response that he accepted the findings and would use the report's recommendations to fix the problems.

Wrong.
The end result is the same. The mayors were elected by the people and council tried to remove them, it doesn't matter why. Council cannot remove an elected official.
Wow, you should practice law! You are really smart!

looks like that "certain someone" got his way. guess we can all rest easy now that we have West looking out for the city. Even though he can barely remember his name most days, and has no idea what's going on at the council meetings.
Here's the thing though, the council says they had no knowledge of David's doings. That is a bold faced lie. We have a council managed mayorship. That means that the council is involved with (or SUPPOSED to be involved with) everything that goes on concerning the mayor. west has had the council in his pocket since last year when they all decided to cook up this little scheme. so if the concessions werent' doing what they were supposed to the council should have stepped up and took notice. instead they just wanted to get their paycheck and sit on their bums.
oh, and has anyone asked about the tens of thousands of dollars it has cost the city, no...cost the TAXPAYERS, to have this audit done? thanks darren. that's our taxes hard at work right there. All to put you in office until november. idiots.

Sounds like you didn't get your way somewhere along the line. Get a life seriously. You're probably just some piece of shit that sits at the house and draws so no one wants your opinion anyways.

Clearly you're the one that needs to give over it. Go back to your tv dinners and generic soda and lay off a bit. No reason to hate on someone bc you're probably just as bad as they're and just haven't got caught yet.
