I am looking for a good watchdog, one that will definitely let you know if someone is around. If you have one, please leave a way for me to contact you because I definitely need a dog. Thank You

Then get a dog from a breeder and raise it. If you pick a correct breed and TAKE CARE OF IT, then it will consider your home it's property and will generally warn you of intruders.

True, but I need a watch dog now and can't wait for a puppy to become grown months from now. If anyone has a good watch dog I need one really bad.
Thanks

I would suggest a small breed such as a terrier or toy poodle; they are easier to take care of and most often their barks are so much bigger than their bites, they hear almost everything coming and going and their shrill barks tend to alert a sleeping human quicker. As far as needing one immediately, I would suggest finding a 3 to 4 month old pup, take a couple of weeks to acclimate it to you and the surroundings, and you should have a fine watchdog for years to come. Its pretty easy to find one at the knox whitley animal shelter down in woodbine, or the laurel co. animal shelter, they are both in the book and both have websites.

If you're looking for a WATCHDOG and not a companion, chances are you won't take care of it. Because of that, no one is going to give you one. To get a dog and instantly have it be aggressive means it's been abused.

My last dog--a great watchdog--died of old age at age 14. That's why I need one now. I took really good care of it, and I got it at age 3, and it didn't like me in the beginning but it came around. I understand dogs really well, particularly agressive dogs, and I am not looking for just a pet but a dog that is wary of strangers.
"Noo", you said, "to get a dog and instantly have it be agressive with strangers means it's been abused". The dog I mentioned above was raised by a lady, never abused, and who took great care of it but moved and couldn't keep it. It was wary and agressive by nature. So, I don't expect any new watch dog I get to instantly like me...it takes time but they will "come around" with proper care. As mentioned before, I'm still looking...

Two people have offered me dogs but they were too gentle, would not bark at strangers, just regular pets, and tht's not what I'm looking for.

I have a mini Schnauzer and he will let you know immediately if someone even walks up the road! His ears are very keen and he is wary of strangers. Beware of attempting to enter my house even with me beside him! He is my baby with fur. He loves me and my family and guards us well. I can't even pillow fight with my son because he doesn't like it! He will nip you cause he thinks we're hurting each other lol I highly suggest a mini Schnauzer they don't shed, they are very compact cute dogs but they are a very protective dog of their families!! I wouldn't take a million dollars for mine seriously!!

You're probably just going to tie some unlucky dog up outside. No one wants to give away an animal for it to be abused. Quit and go purchase a fence if you're so worried.

There's the confirmation you won't take care of it. Throw it out in the rain so that people won't try to steal your drugs, right? Scum.

Try the knox/whit animal shelter... or the laurel. they are over run with animals right now. It would probably be your best bet. if you have facebook there is page called "free animals to a good home" I saw some dogs on there too!

"lol", your statement above shows you are an idiot, and you told on yourself with your "drugs" statement.
You called me "Scum", but look in the mirror (oops, you already were as you made the above statement about yourself). No drugs here, I work every day and don't have time for idiotic comments...what the #@## is wrong with having a fenced yard? Plus, what's wrong with looking for a watch dog? Finally, I've had several dogs, know how to care for dogs, and just need to find the right one...one that will bark at strangers.
hmm..

Check the shelters! They had some owner surrendered a few days ago. Just don't remember which shelter it was. Older and younger ones.
