Lynn Camp Middle School is going to State! The Lynn Camp Robotics Team won at the Mountain Regional at Hazard over the weekend and will advance to the State Tournament at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green in January. They have fewer regionals in Robotics than in basketball. In Robotics, the 13th, 14th and 15th regions are combined into one huge regional. Lynn Camp had to compete against strong teams from Pikeville, Johnson County Central and Breathitt County. In Robotics competition, teams have to design, build and program a robot to perform 12 tasks on a laid out course while being timed. Once the robot begins, the team cannot communicate with it in any way; the robot is totally on its own. Lynn Camp also won the Robot Design & Programming competition by one point over Johnson County Central. Robotics is a really tough competition. Most schools are much bigger than Lynn Camp and have local banks or corporations funding them.
