Good for your daughter, but I am raising my granddaughter who would like to cheer but I can't afford it, just like many others. I worked hard all my life, but my social security is just not enough for her to bop around at a game.
If money is tight, keep in mind that the cost of participation will be more than uniforms. There is transportation, meals on the road, constant fundraising which will require getting her there, etc. kid won't be able to have a part time job because she is always on the road, etc.

Use your money to support her education and teach her to value the important things.

<quoted text>my daughter cheers. They send out papers before tryout practice begins. They have the cost itemized. Last year my daughter recieved a coat 2 sets of Pom poms (fb/Bb), 3 uniforms warm ups, 2 bows, cheer bag, went to camp was fed and housed. Now all this was good quality gear. Monogrammed. So for 1800. I'd say its as worth every penny to a girl who wants to cheer.
If you sit back and look at what you have put on here could you not buy all of this for $800.00 of the $1800.00 ? The prices following are the most expensive they have and I have rounded them off to the high side for each item .....shoes $85.00 , pom poms $21.00, cheer bag $27.00 , socks $8.00, uniform $41.00, warm ups (jacket and pants)$68.00 . Lol I think its far less than $1800.00

What about gymnastic lessons each week - the cost of each week and the cost to drive to South Corbin? Cheer camp? And, there is more than 1 of each clothing item to be bought.

I don't know what uniform and warmup you found for that price! Uniforms are over $200 by the time you letter them! Lettering can cost $40-$50. Also don't forget the shipping! It gets expensive for 15 -20 of everything!

Just go to the Varsity site , they make it pretty easy , on the left side you can search by cost. Not real hard to do. And as for the Cheer Camp we paid like $200.00 at knox middle school last year, the girls had camp in the knox middle gym and the camp was done by someone I know and that person didnt make what two girls paid, much less 30 of them, so I wonder where the balance of that money went ? If its hard for you to figure you can use a calculator, but just in case you find yourself struggling all you do is times $200 by 30, I believe thats $6000.00, above I said the lady that done the camp didnt get as much as what two girls paid, but just to make it easy we'll say she got paid the same as two girls which is $400.00 , so that leaves $5400.00 just floating around somewhere.

Well the coach for the high school is ridiculous! She don't care about the cost, the girl's or anything else, all she cares about is the squad making her look good. Anyone with common sense knows that all the things they need, including camp DOES NOT cost THAT much! The price does not include gymnastics either. She had 35 girls to try out for next years team and they all made it but THREE. Now could someone please tell me if all you had to cut was three why she couldn't let them be on the team too? Did she think about there is always one or two that quit for whatever reason during the season anyways? I could completely understand if she had ten too many or even lower,BUT THREE? It's apparent that Lisa Napier does not care about the dreams and hopes she broke by SINGLING OUT and cutting those three girl's. I am glad my kid's don't attend the county school for reason's just as this. People that are selfish and inconsiderate of kid's def don't need to be in a classroom with kid's much less a cheerleading coach!

KC has over 30 cheerleaders??? And only 3 were cut??? That's ridiculous! What other cheerleading squad has 30 or more cheerleaders anyway? Would three more really have made a difference? Why would anyone do that?

I have looked at the Varsity Web site and all I can come up with is that Cheer Camp must cost a heck of a lot cause the clothes and supplies sure dont. What a RIP OFF. Plus I agree with the others on here, why cant the school pay for the Cheer Leaders like they do all the other sports ? Looks like discrimination to me .

NO, it would not have. But I will tell you what other school has 30. Knox Middle this year. And they too only cut three girls. Can you imagine? Hurting those three? I couldn't stand to look at the middle cheer coach because of it. No she was not the judge. But she determined how many were cut. I know one of those girls and it really affected her to be cut in such a small number. Heartless, I believe. And yep, the cost could be much lower.

I know for a fact that two of the three that were cut DID have talent, experience and know how to tumble, and I'm sure the third girl did too.So they DID have some talent for Pete's sake! The three that were cut were discriminated against, I KNOW!

Why would she discriminate against them? What did she have against them? If they had the abilities, why wouldn't she take them, too? Or cut more than just three of them?

I somewhat agree with what you've said, except, "... to a girl who wants to cheer."

What about the girl who wants nothing more in the world than to be a cheerleader, but her parent(s) can't afford these prices? I find it a bit rude that you've suggested since a kid whose parents have the means to afford such things,'wants it' more than a kid who's parents aren't so well off.
That may not be what you were "meaning to say", but that is exactly what you said.
