Barbourville was a great school until the late late 90's, its gone down hill since then. I would not send my child there today before the issues with the staff are lined out starting with the Superintendent.

I am very pleased with Central Elem. My child makes straight A's and is on GT's. I couldn't ask for better teachers either. Also I believe it depends on the child more than the school.

<quoted text>You have a really good point about it depending on the child more than the school, although most people don't see it that way, due to the fact that most people need something to blame everything on. I myself have no biological children of my own, and haven't stepped foot in a school in nearly twenty years, so I wouldn't know for sure...Ha Ha!
...you are saying it is the kids fault the teacher can't/won't teach?

The best school is here. Anyone can log in and learn from the freaking geniuses that get on here and type their asinine musings while hiding behind a computer and maligning others. That's what 99% of this site is. I love when they blame the teachers. That's the best part. Many posters on here are so freaking dumb that Jesus, himself, would have struggled to teach them, and he was the greatest teacher ever.

No, it isn't the child's fault if they have a bad teacher, and there are some bad ones out there. However, if said child goes to school and absolutely won't do anything or try to learn anything, then yes, it is their fault. And that happens a lot, too. AND, if the child's parents don't put forth any effort to help the child be successful in school, then the parents are at fault as well. Basically, to sum it all up, we're all in this together, students, parents and teachers. A student s not going to be successful without all of those factors working together positively.

So, if I were picking a school for my child, and Lay, GR and Barbourville were my options, which one should I pick? Honestly, I'm not too sure about Barbourville. I've heard some things I don't particularly like. I'm sure the other two have their problems, too. I just want what is best for my child.
