$500.00 Per Pound DRY

The following prices are for individual roots when WET:

$176.00 Per Pound ... 1oz & under
$192.00 Per Pound ... 1oz - 1 7/8oz
$208.00 Per Pound ... 2oz - 2 7/8oz
$224.00 Per Pound ... 3oz - 3 7/8oz

Hope this helps anyone into 'sang digging. I did read earlier that the state of North Carolina is paying more, upwards of $600.00 per pound dry. Cheers.

Take it to North Carolina and see what happens to you...

and please don't even try and compare the quality of ginseng from Ky to NC....its not even close.

also, be VERY careful when you sell individual roots....they are cherry picking what THEY want. Then you will never get rid of the "leftovers".

You are not so post to dig it when its in bloom no ways that why it is so hard to find in a lot of area's Ginseng is used in a lot of the med. we use. Ad the next thing do you have premission from the landowner to be dig on the property for it. or any other Roots.

Translation: You aren't supposed to dig it when it's in bloom anyway. That is why it is so hard to find in a lot of areas. Ginseng is an ingredient in lots of the medicines we use. Also, make sure to get permission from landowners before digging Ginseng or any other root. You're welcome.....

because by law you must have special license to buy ginseng & I believe you can only sell it to licensed in state dealers.

you must have a license to buy ginseng and then those dealers must have the roots certifide in Frankfort and also must pay a per pound fee for each pound being shipped out of the state. If you take it out of the state without the proper paperwork the US Forest Service will take all your roots and fine you $5000. and they can put you in jail. I know several dealers who received fines and lost the roots also....they had to appear in Federal Court in London.
The state is making it to where its almost impossible for dealers to make any money, so in the near future look for them to close the buying and selling all together. Every year for the past 5 yrs they have tighten the rules. They have to do something about the over harvesting or it will be gone from this state altogether.

Yes you can, but it's not worth much. The "home grown" ginseng is the stuff you see in soft drinks (pepsi max) or other types of teas and energy drinks. They grown it on big farms in Wisconsin and sell it buy the ton. The "wild" gensing is sold to the Asian market. They think it helps them with every type of health problem known to man.

I'm assuming this price is for natural woods grown, correct? Any idea what artificially shaded ginseng is selling for?
