I have been thinking about this for the last week or so it has keep comeing back to my mind over and over and the way I feel about it , looking at things that has happend to people in south east Kentucky a economical depresed people of jobs and education and health care is so many ways the old fashioned people of south east Kentucky , even the young people in this region they think like there older Grand parents and fathers and mothers , I have a old friend she is over 80 years old and when I go visit her and say I dont feel good today she rite away say I got something to help you just waite and she will go to the cabnet and start looking for some thing for me to take to ease my miserys , I have to say no no that is ok Im ok , Im not hurting that dad I notice she comes from very old ways wehn all your achs and pains people took care of at home , I called her this week and said I had a cold and she said Ok now listen to me if you want to get rid that cold , You get you some honey and ginger and boil it on the stove and and make you some honey and ginger tea , step by step and if I dont listen to her she will be insulted as thow im saying she is ignorant and useless , many old timmers took care of there own babys were deliverd at home by midwifes out of all my brothers and sisters me and my sister were the only two children to be born at a hospital it was common place to have your babys at home, and this was in the 1960,s just comeing out of the 1950,s my own mother had her children at home I remember the name aunt nan sfalf but never knew her...the people of this region is not very far away from them times still there parents had there babys at home in south east Kentucky and to self medicate if you got any medicine was the only way you got medical treatment and that mind set does not go away easy form a culture...

The first hospital in barbourville that I know of is the old Sam Davies Law office , I remember going to the Dr there as a child it was Dr Clifton I was looking at the same window just last week where I sit as a young boy in the Drs office years before Dr hayden and the foerin Dr Invations of south east Kentucky the foerighn Dr Invations begin in the early 1970's I remember at that time a young boy why is there so many foerighn Drs comeing to my hometown it was a extreem change for me even as a child im not being a racist person but I remember a feeling of distance and rejections from the Doctors Dr hayden would tlak to my father and his patience but the foerin Drs was very distant looked at you like you were a animal with no personality about you as a child I remember thinking why are so many of these doctors in my town do they have family here? do they really like us country people a lot? as I got older I started to loose respect for my culture and my race and think white people are not intelligent they cant learn how to be Doctors and they are just old hillbillies and cant go to school and learn how to be a Doctor so we need these more intelligent foerin doctors to do the special medical things that people in this area can never learn, Then came the new wave of white medical Christain Doctors with a bible in one hand and a RX pad in the other , I call it RX Jesus doctors,,,Pray the Ill away , they was a new Trinity, the Church Medicine and the Police,,,,they was going to get you saved medically treated and sins forgiven all at the same time BUT!!! just like the Inquisituion forced the Church and its laws on people if you did not agree with there religous ways , they would drop you as a patient and call the police or Operation Unite on you to punish you if you were a modern day offender of there advice , I found my self wishing that my doctor was not a Christain and some how they got the foerin Doctors to go along with there purge , folks the way i see it the people of south east Kentucky has been sufferd a mental war and phyical war Church Medicine and politics all in one over took the area....its strange to me its scarry people what are people going to do about this in my opinion its a war on soceity and the people of this region it dont make any common sense , I can think of a Dr office Murder Dr Dennis Sandlin shot in his office and another young man rite here in Knox county that shot him self in fear of operation Unites fery drug addicts are sick people and Doctors are there to treat the sick the Church and state needs to get out of medicine and do its praying and lawing somewhere els.

When I look at a church a hospital or a police. they are all the same to me...and I would hate to have to deak with any of them I see them all the same now...opresson of the people.
