Thieves stealing credit card access from gas pumps

There is a new scam going around locally that happens when you swipe your card outside, on gas pumps. Somehow, the thieves have done something to the pumps so that--when you use your card on them--they gain access to your account and steal all your money. This has happened in London and other places in this area. Apparently, if you go inside to swipe your card this does not happen. It seems to happen only with cards swiped outside, at the pump. So, if using a card to pay for gas, it's safer to go inside.

Always check the pump for any attachments to the credit card reader. They attach a small device to the reader that's hard to notice unless you check. Once it's been there for a couple days, they retrieve the device and collect the information.
