Soaking then draining beans (all type beans) helps beak down the enzymes that can't be digested and causes gas. Either soak over night or use the quick soak method as follows: cover beans with a few inches of water and bring to a boil. Let stand in the pot for an hour then drain and rinse. Cook drained and rinsed beans with fresh water and whatever seasonings you like to use. If you follow one of these methods I can guarantee you will have much less gas than if you cooked them dry.

I forgot to mention that you also need to drain and rinse the beans if you use the overnight soaking method. Using the soak water just incorporates the undigestible enzymes back into the bean dish you are making. Thoroughly cooking the beans also breaks down these enzymes.
