Not just biblical law. Maxims like the Golden Rule predate any biblical laws. In any event, the Golden Rule doesn't mean much to the god of the Bible anyway.Khatru isn't speaking about my faith or Christianity, our faith means "You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord." Khatru's understanding of our religions is ignorant of how that biblical law permeates modern Western religious philosophy.
Do you agree that the god-sanctioned genocide, death sentences for homosexuals and people of other religions are wrong?
There's nothing wrong with healthy criticism. You need to consider other sources to form a balanced view. Having had years of hearing it from bible converts and believers, it's time to listen to the critics.Study the bible from people who know and respect the bible, not critics even when they are well meaning.
In American history, Christian immigrants also died in their thousands fighting for the right to keep slaves. When the American Civil War was over and one group of Christians had killed enough of another group of Christians, they set out to kill and enslave tens of thousands of the original inhabitants of the Americas. In American history, Christians led the antislavery movement, fought against genocide in Europe and established our freedoms and rights.
I had to google Phil Robertson. Is he any relation to Pat Robertson?I'm proud to stand for Phil Robertson's freedom to answer press interview questions about his religion and I oppose attempts to censor or harm him for his faith.
Anyway, he's perfectly entitled to endeavour to articulate his views.
If we must have bigots and totalitarians in our midst, it's good to know who they are and what they think. That's one of the great beauties of free speech.
