First, you have no as yet said whether you support the invasion of Iraq yet. Likely because you do not wish to be caught in a contradiction.

Keep in mind, I have no defended a single military action by Obama here. So you seem to be jumping to some conclusions about me.
On the other hand, you defended the invasion of Iraq, but stopped short of claiming the invasion is something you supported.
Your statements seem wishy washy.

I think we would actually agree on a few things on this subject.

And how can we ever handle it on our own country when Christian fundamentalists here cannot understand the good of secularism.
This is the part I am trying to handle, and you are on the wrong side of it.

As a Christian, I would love for the Bible to be taught in every school. As a human, I can see the pitfalls of this, the number #1 being you would be forcing one religion on the entire US population; and while I don't think that is a bad thing spiritually, I do not think God wants a people forced to believe in him or worship him without a choice.

We've seen where our children have gone since they took the Bible (or any religious teachings) out of the school. Our children are taught they evolved from fish and animals, so they are reverting back to behaving like unprincipled, cornered animals. I feel if you teach evolution, then you should also teach creationism.

Once a child has a sense of "forever" he may make better decisions in this life instead of saying, "What does it matter. I'm just gonna die and that's it." People have to have hope in order to strive to make tomorrow better for themselves and others. Without hope, life is going to continue that downward slide.

Perhaps we could compile and only teach the good principals combining ALL religions that teach peace and love of fellow man? I don't see why anyone should have a problem with that. Unless you are one who likes kids killing kids and even taking their own lives because they're being taught they are nothing but inconsequential specks of evoluation that just happened; no purpose, no reason and no future.

We see what this teaching has done since Madeline O'Hara. Why can't we make decisions based on giving hope back to our children.

Thank you.

How a non-morman can become like a morman prophet and have instant morman followers.

In the beginning_____
**********
LOL posts-
"There is no god"
-
"yes the liar" relpies-
"A fool in his heart says......"(insult)
-
LOL replies -
"A fool believes the heart does anything but pump blood." (insult returned)
-
future prophet replies -
"It also produces Cardiac Enzymes......"(Huh)
-
LOL -
"Produces?"(notice the not sure stance by LOL)
"Enzymes are contained within the muscle cells and are released into the blood when the cells are damaged."( fact )
"The heart pumps blood its a muscle."(fact)
-
future prophet -
*Yes, produces.........enzymes...... ....
-
LOL -
"The heart pumps blood and nothing else."(It could pump other things water, gasoline, etc but not recommended, side effects are a killer) "No thoughts, no talking, no emotions just pumps blood."
**"As for cellular level activity, nothing to do with my post."**(notice last line)
-
future prophet -
* I was being specific and the heart does not have thoughts, no talking, no emotions(just like LOL claimed)... But it also produces Cardiac Enzymes...(and LOL agreed just not sure about the produce part) which is more than "Just Pumps Blood".....and might I add it also has a nerve feedback to the lungs, brain and cardio vascular system that lets the assorted systems change their outputs and control signals to deal with transient conditions..........Wow)
-
LOL -
**"Like I said, has nothing to do with my post. The word "thick" comes to mind."(could have used dense).
-
future prophet -
*ad hominem attack, ad hominem attack (dances around chair arms waving) you were wrong and I was right...... I won, I won, na-na na-na boo-boo........ Get over yourself I won........*(won what)
-
"dimwit"(cheerleader and new follower)-
*Yes he won, he won.*(Physically spells out v-i-c-t-o-r-y)
-
future prophet -
*Thank you, facts are facts and laws are laws(readjusts glasses askew from dancing).........
-
"dimwit" -
*My prophet schooled you "LOL", so quit whining(does fist pump, high fives air).*

**********
And the morman prophet "religummist" rises above mere mortals, puts on Queens "we are the champions" song, snaps a self portrait and announces to the room "I won".........."They " say this is how some delusions start. Really. Stop laughing. "THEY" did a study.)

New additon to the "bom" coming soon.
Or maybe a new "miracle" story........

If you want peace, don't teach the bible, as it is not always the best at teaching peace. It does promote forced religion, just look at how Moses murdered the non believers.

You can put all cause and effect upon one single factor if you wish, but that is the most unscientific way imaginable. I expect nothing less from a Christian.

The world and Christian societies had many problems long before government conducted prayer to children.

I need no hope of immortality in order to be moral, maybe you need that carrot on a stick, but that just makes you seem all the less moral.

I guess if your parents never told you reasons for morality other than eternal life, I can see why you have such ignorance. I do wish schools would teach non religious reasons for morality.

It never ceases to amaze me that some people think a child must be introduced and raised in a Christian Environment in order to have morals and do the right thing. Your argument has as much stability as a tri-pod missing a leg! Show me anyone who likes kids killing kids, or anyone else for that matter! I have children in school, and not once has my child came home and informed me they were once a fish (because that's what the teacher is telling me)

Yes when it comes to other nations I have a far less aggressive stance... You see I am an American and not a Citizen of the World... We have, or suppose to have, Constitutional based laws... The other countries and cultures have their own and it is Not up the the US to be their protectors... I care deeply that others in other nations kill each other as much as I care that so many in my country have so little regard for for human life.

But at the same time there are millions of people on the planet that want to kill me and my family and are willing to fly planes into buildings, use WMD's and strap explosives on their own children to kill me and I don't see where I, or the US, should spend our treasure and blood to protect a culture of death from itself... And Islam is absolutely a death cult...

I seriously doubt there are millions of people who want to kill you and your family. If that was the case then acts of terror on a larger scale would be far more common. Instead we see isolated, small events. Failed attempts. And lots of infighting.

Extremists are the minority in all cultures. Here in the USA we have our own extremists. We have some very mouthy Christian pastors who like to talk publicly about killing gays or beating children. In most Islamic countries you have more extreme voices and general attitude is shifted right of center regarding traditionally conservative ideas like family values, religion, and patriarchy.

But "millions" of them don't want you dead. Or else you'd be dead.

As Mike pointed out, you cannot assign blame to one factor for all the ills you perceive today. The fact is schools were never given a mandate to proselytize to children. The Constitution kinda frowns on that.

We should teach kids the best we know. Critical thinking skills, mainstream science, language and mathematics. Teaching religion should be in the mix, but as a comparative/critical exercise, NEVER in a devotional manner. A class on mythology and religion would be good as an elective.

I find it disturbing that you think it would be OK to force kids to be basically preached to. As you said "...you would be forcing one religion on the entire US population; and while I don't think that is a bad thing spiritually, I do not think God wants a people forced to believe in him or worship him without a choice."

Consider what you are saying here. You seem to recognize it as a mostly negative thing but not because it would violate the idea of the liberty of conscious and not because it would be a cheap and dirty move to woo the minds of people who are too young to know better...you find a problem with it because something in your Book says not to do it.

And that is why it is NEVER a good idea to let religion have ANY power in government. It is not based on reason, it is based on faith and it depends on the willingness to surrender autonomy to a system of authoritarian control. And that control comes from a book that was written before we knew what germs were.

Not a good idea.

There's a 13-yo girl I know who now has a baby. She had the baby because, thanks to her Christian upbringing, the idea of an abortion is the same as murder. Now whatever future she might have had is forever altered and her chances of achieving a high level of education, employment, and happiness are diminished.
