First, are you assuming those who no longer believe are growing hate for you? If so, why?<quoted text>
It is really this simple: write or type a letter that says "I _______ wish to have my name and records removed from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints"
Then sign it.
The reason people think it is so hard, is because they don't do this simple step, so they remain on the roster and people that care about their eternal well-being are assigned to visit that person to see how they are doing and if they can help them. Sure they don't want to see someone leave the church, because they understand the eternal ramifications. But the locals don't really care about the membership numbers. In actuality, it is easier to have a smaller list to go visit every month. We have lives and families too, and I really don't like to waste my family time going to talk to someone that has a growing hate for me because I'm trying to care for them. So I'd rather they take the time to remove their name. Then no more unwanted visits.
And second, I thought your Jesus wanted you to promote his word to all, even those who oppose you?
But I understand it is easier to hook those who are already drinking the cool-aid to some degree.
The Jehovah Witnesses do the same thing. They give up on you if they see you are not buying the claims blindly.
