Then you really need to get current with the news. Arizona is attempting to pass a law that requires students to swear an oath that ends with "So help me God". Anyone refusing will not be allowed to remain in the school if it passes, and since Muslims, Atheists, Buddhists, and anyone else who doesn't follow the Christian faith wouldn't swear an oath to a god they don't believe in or a god that isn't their god, so those students will be refused to be allowed to graduate.

All's it has to do is to be changed a bit-

to-

I,_________ do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge these duties; to the best of my ability.

And THEN it COULD be passed.

As this IS AMERICA, home of the U.S. CONSTITUTION.

Which is what they'll probably do-if it doesn't go to the scrap piles of laughability first.

Are you really this foolish? You honestly think a komodo dragon and a mythical dragon are the same thing? Are you unaware that the komodo dragon was named for the mythical creature? Or, that the komodo dragon has never been a creature that could be found naturally in Britain?
All you've done is prove you're absolutely bereft of anything resembling intelligence.
EVOLUTION?

All's you've done is resort to the Lowest level, of gutter sniping via personal attacks on others.

It's a BIG old world, and there are MANY *actually* intelligent people (as in NOT fake or phony, pseudo pretend of mere pretentiousness ones) of all races, creeds and colors, with LOTS of different opinions on LOTS of different subjects!!!
The truly admirable are the ones that REALIZE their own humaness, and do NOT deem themselves "above others" because of it.
And those who would "esteem" themselves above others because of it-are the ones that really need to "Get a Clue"!!
What are you even talking about now? Nothing you post makes any sense at all. You connect things that aren't connected, you think a komodo dragon and a mythical dragon are the same creature, you have no sense of what is going on in current events, etc.

I think it's ironic that you claim to support the Constitution when it suits your needs, but otherwise you ignore it. You've been going on for days now about how it's great to have Bible study in school, yet that's unconstitutional. Pick a position, either you support the Constitution or you don't. You can't support it when it's convenient and ignore it when it's not...it's not the Bible.

That's not what that passage means, bro. It says that even if you could speak every language, but you were intolerant all you'd be doing is making a lot of useless noise. That passage actually supports being decent, it has nothing to do with whining or being accusatory.
Also, if you've actually read this thread you'd see that it's been the religious people who have whined, attacked, been hateful, accusatory, and ignorant. Every person who has made a rational argument against Bible study in school has been attacked, accused of being immoral, been told they are going to Hell, and so on.
Then, there's the people like you who just keep making a lot of noise without saying anything. Generally, I don't like to use the words of someone else, but this accurately describes almost every post you've made: "What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it"
and yes it does have plenty to do with being a birdbrained flapping jaw of STUPIDITY...because REAL tolerance and respect of and for others, does NOT stoop to that low gutter snipe level!

You're an idiot. Stringing together a few big words doesn't make you look smart when the content is incoherent. There's no way someone could possibly be as stupid as you are and figure out how to use the internet, you have to be just trying to troll. Well done, you had me going for a bit, but like I said...nobody could possibly be this stupid.

<quoted text>I remember someone telling me if I did not attend church for seven years, I would be excommunicated. I wonder first, how would they know, and second, do they really work to push people out like this or is it just a veiled threat.

They did send some missionaries to my house a few years back. They knew I was a member and asked if I would come to their church meetings. I did not declare my atheism or tell them I would never come, but I think they understood I was no longer into the whole bit. They have not been back.
There is no validity to the seven year statement. You would still be on the records and they next time they change out someone in a leadership position locally, your name will show up on a home teaching list and someone will eventually come see you again. This will likely repeat forever even if you move. They are good at locating people. Their intent is to get you back into the fold. Your best bet is to tell them you want your name removed. They'll help you. Otherwise it is a waste of a lot of people's time, not just yours.

(OR duhmed down and more plainly stated-people are free to worship/believe (or not) whatever-but they are LIABLE, AND Subject to CIVIL LAW codes of behavior-- should they inflict Harm in any shape, form or fashion! And that includes Bullying, terrorzing, stalking freakishly etc etc others!)
Keep on declaring yourself the winner of a debate that you have not even really debated.
Cut and pasting a statement is not debating. What you posted proves nothing. Of course in your mind, it does. But that is your biased mind.

Although I will give you a few points for maybe having a shred of enough actual COMMON SENSE (as did the FF) to realize-
NO GOVERNMENT would ever be able to "demand" ALL people believe/worship (or not) the same.
That would just be plain old, outright-- IGNORANT.
Hense, your "utopia" comment would be quite TRUE.
Well I never said it should, so who are you arguing with? A government should not even suggest who you should worship. Respecting an establishment of religion is suggesting.

Now lets go back to Moses. He demanded all people worship his god. He murdered those who did not.
Your beliefs are based upon this man and his claims.

<quoted text>I'm not 100% sure how they handle this stuff internally. All I really know is that I've listened to or read a dozen interviews or stories about Formons and the challenges of having your name removed from the LDS roster is a common theme. And it makes sense that they would be reluctant to remove a person. For one thing, if they actually believe in their mythology then they want to save your soul. And secondly higher numbers makes them look more legit.
It is really this simple: write or type a letter that says "I _______ wish to have my name and records removed from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints"
Then sign it.

The reason people think it is so hard, is because they don't do this simple step, so they remain on the roster and people that care about their eternal well-being are assigned to visit that person to see how they are doing and if they can help them. Sure they don't want to see someone leave the church, because they understand the eternal ramifications. But the locals don't really care about the membership numbers. In actuality, it is easier to have a smaller list to go visit every month. We have lives and families too, and I really don't like to waste my family time going to talk to someone that has a growing hate for me because I'm trying to care for them. So I'd rather they take the time to remove their name. Then no more unwanted visits.

In other words, you are saying that, man is capable of creating life and that by using his intelligence he will be able to design and create some form of life...That process would be called Intelligent Design.....
Gee,Where have I heard this Intelligent Design argument?
And to think, there are those who would disagree with you.
These Fools would tell you that you do not need Intelligent design or God , in order to create life.
They will tell you that life was spontaneously created from nonliving matter.... And,,,They have no idea how this happened?
Some will make those assertions and then recant.......
Life is the result of one, that being God,having the knowledge to intelligently design it....
Yes,Our God lives and creared all by means of Jesus Christ.
His word tells me so And,,,To those that seek him,he has proved his existence
No, I made no claims that remotely suggest this. Are you talking to the voices in your head?
