Reading what any unbalanced extremist types (no matter the faith, creed or color) do, can be like reading horror stories.

Imagine "students" having to translate and write it, from one language to another these days!
And up until the 1900's that was fine because there where no public schools. All schools where paid for by the parents to keep the poor uneducated, so that sweatshops would have large numbers of young children to lock in their factories for 12 hours a day at slave wages.
Since the christian cult has a small percent of the population your cult will not be forced on children at my expense.
If all children where told about religion when they where adults there would never be another christian again

True, proof of this is the 500 years that the church was in power. We call that the dark ages because people where oppressed and there was no greatness or progress

A high school class in Greek so that kids can translate old scrolls? That would be awesome, actually. It would be impossible, but a great exercise.

Nothing wrong with reading the Bible. Reading in general is very good for the ole noggin. As long as you are liberal in your religious views then there is no problem. Once you go down the path of Fundamentalism you are off the rails.

I think a comparative religion course taught be a qualified instructor would be an incredibly good asset to any kid's education. And I guarantee the Fundie parents would lose their sh*t over it because when you start comparing religions you necessarily criticize your own.

You can not have a real conversation with these idiots!

When my wife took a "worlds religions" class in college the professor made the statement that they where studying the foolishness of other people because the only true religion is the christian religion.
If that could be stopped and there was no bias, just the study of all religions than that would be great.
Also, if the study of the christian bible was the entire bible, not a few chosen parts I would not mind as long as there is no bias (after all reading the bible is what taught me that there is no god)

since u point out the catholics it is good to know that they control all the original scriptures and things and guess who isnt aloowed to see them...no one but the higher priests of the vatican. they tell all what the bible says in one way or the other so i beg to say that every christian is somewhat a catholic whether they like the idea or not. they control the source so they control what u or anyone else thinks is actually wrote in them. who is to say its not even translated and they made the bible say exactly what they wanted it to say. maybe thats why some very important people from the bible had their scriptures left out when the final cut was released. for example the book of enoch, the book of mary (thought to be magdalene and not his mother), and the life of adam and eve that tells eves side of it all. so have u ever thoguht why u only get parts of it when other ppl important to jesus wrote scripture but teirs was left out. what are they hiding?
Read some of these...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostolic_Father...

since they were before Constantine, there not poluted by the catholic church!
Stop reading Dan Brown...
Adam, and Eve didn't write a thing...
It was told by God to Moses!
Also... writings that didn't make it into the cannon
didn't Jive with the OT, and the rest of the Gospels!
Also... How could Judas write a gospel... hanging from a tree?
Could Judas be in Heaven??? He did repent!

Liberalism thinking has become a religion in itself. Those with that particular mind set worship at the altar of pro choice, environmentalism, animal rights, gay marriage, etc. They have no problem infusing these beliefs and doctrines into modern education. They need to be more diversity minded and not be against other beliefs. I say the more people know Jesus the Christ, the more we increase our chances of saving this country from the collapse we are racing toward

The christian cult is a social club not a religion. In a religion people worship a Deity
The word "worship" is defined as "loving beyond all else", so how can the christian cult claim to worship their god when they choose to ignore the parts of the bible that are not convenient to their lifestyle?
Saying "All I have to do is ask for forgiveness" is selfishness, not worship.
"God said that I should not cut my hair, but my political beliefs say I should have short hair so I will ignore god's words and do what I want" That is not worship!
More proof that the christian cult does not believe in a god.

So the christian cult is the majority? Well that explains the vastness of Internet porn, strip clubs, bars, pedophiles, murderers, rapist, thieves.
Most people who do not believe in "god" will claim to be christian when confronted in public about religious beliefs to avoid persecution. The number of people who go to church at least one day a year makes the christian cult a very small minority.
The true number of "christians" is about one fourth of the claimed number.)
Hahahaha!
So... We can say
"Well that explains the vastness of Internet porn, strip clubs, bars, pedophiles, murderers, rapist, thieves."
that these things are bad... Agreed!
.
"Most people who do not believe in "god" will claim to be christian"
Most likely those same people that started the strip clubs, pornography, and pediflia ect...
.
"(even most Satanist will lie and say they are christian to avoid losing their jobs and having protesters outside their homes)"

I'd say that these are NOT the only things you lie about...

"You are worthless without him.
You need him in your life.
You are unloveable and unworthy of love.
You are evil and nothing you can ever do is
good enough to be accepted by him.

But he will love you, anyway, despite your
state of unloveability, worthlessness,
and evilness.
Obey everything he say to do.
He knows what is best for you, despite any
plan, hopes, or dreams you have of
your own that is not part of how he thinks
you need to behave and what he
thinks you should do with your life.
You need to submit completely to his will."

When will Christians realize that their doctrine
they adhere to, that their
mindset, and everything that they think is
right about their lives is exactly what the
DSM-IV classifies as 'battered wife syndrome?'
---The Thinker

Perhaps it should be called "battered person syndrome.
The self-loathing condition is the same regardless of gender.

I would suggest studying I Samuel first. That way the kids could come face-to-face with the moral quandary that is God commanding his people to kill women and children.
