For the record, I am equally critical of ALL religions. LDS, Baptist, Catholicism, Pentecostal, Sangria, Voodoo, and Seventh Day Adventist are all subject to the same scrutiny. They all make truth claims about the world that are demonstrably false and therefore they are antithetical to truth seeking.
So this is not about bashing JWs, kooky as the religion may be.

I can appreciate your logical reasoning from a human standpoint. But the creator knows what is best for us. You want to think that is a probitition from eating or drinking blood. I'll give you a senero that will help to clear your understanding. Lets say you were in a terrable auto accident, the Dr. says you need blood, you agree for him to give you whole blood. The nurse comes in with several pint glasses of blood and tells you to drink it all. Yuck you would never do that. Now explain the difference! At least if you drink it, it passes through your digestive system and cleans it somewhat of some impurities. But if you shoot it straight into your viens there all kinds of risks including AIDS Hepititus C any number of STDs Jaundice etc. Really blood is bad medicine no matter what a Dr. might say. And too there are blood subtitutes like saline solution that does pretty much the same thing as a blood transfusion without the risks.

Blood isn't intended to be ingested in this manner. The best way to explain the difference is by analogy:

Let's say you had a terrible case of hemorrhoids and the nurse told you that, instead of inserting a suppository into your rectum, she told you to suck on it. Yuck. You would never do that.

It's faulty to suggest that Jehova's Witnesses decline blood transfusions because it's comparable to drinking blood. That's insulting to practicing Jehova's Witnesses.

It's also faulty to suggest that the reason behind declining blood transfusions is related to the threat of HIV, STDs, etc... It goes much deeper than that.

Blood is dangerous medicine but you are correct, the main reason is because Jehovah forbids the injesting of blood either way! Acts 15:28,29 28 For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to YOU, except these necessary things, 29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If YOU carefully keep yourselves from these things, YOU will prosper. Good health to YOU!”
I want to call your attention to the fact that the inspired Scriptures put the misuse of blood in bad company, things sacrificed to idols and fornication! You may as well worship idols or be a prostitute as to take blood! Not a happy thought is it?
