Nothing wrong with reading the Bible. Reading in general is very good for the ole noggin. As long as you are liberal in your religious views then there is no problem. Once you go down the path of Fundamentalism you are off the rails.
I think a comparative religion course taught be a qualified instructor would be an incredibly good asset to any kid's education. And I guarantee the Fundie parents would lose their sh*t over it because when you start comparing religions you necessarily criticize your own.
