When in high school, I had a friend that fell into scientology and later gone crazy and had to be institutionalized. He was by all accounts a nice,smart and not the type I thought would fall for that.

As it turned out his brother was a scientologist. His brother told me (one day during a visit with my friend) he could start his car just by thinking it so. I ask him to demonstrate this to me, he quickly change the subject as to why I just lit up to smoke. Anyway I knew at that point he was batshxt crazy. Sad he had his brother get invovled with that cult.

Scientologist would always use attractive females to approach me and my buddies to see if we like to attend one of their meetings.
We did because we were hoping they would put out, but no chance, after we did go to a meeting they just wanted to sale us books and then cry when we told them no.

If Social security did not collect one more penny it could still pay benefits for twenty five years. The only reason republicans want to do away with social security is because they can not get their hands on the money. As far as paying the debt, when I hear you complain about the billions of dollars in CORPORATE welfare (much more than is paid through any other social program) I will start to take what you say as something more than a Fox News sheep parroting what he has been told

Lets assume (for the sake of the point I would like to make) that the bible is true and that there is a god and a devil.
If the term god and devil where changed to jehova and Satan in the bible and asked some one to read the bible and tell you whom the devil is they would say jehova is the devil because of all of the evil hate murder rape he lust after and all Satan did was encourage people to think and make informed decisions

You could be a good politician, because you can twist words. lol! But no. What's in the Bible is culture - whether you think there are customs that should or shouldn't be done is up to you - but it's culture. That's how times were back than, not an excuse, but fact. The government, made up of bad people (libido dominandi), ALLOWS evil to continue - like the evil perpetuated by religious people in the name of a god. With no government, no religious faction could be able to do harm on a grand scale.

Atheists don't have to believe in God to kill people. And why does it matter if you believe in God or not? If you plan to kill, you'll justify any way possible, if not Christianity, then in the name of atheism or some other arbitrary engine.

You are itching to pass the blame. Individualism. We as individuals make decisions. If you can't blame the individual, then you shouldn't complain about violence. We make our own decisions, not a deity.

Well Listen Close... There Should Be No Subsides for Any Industry, If a Industry cannot succeed within the Free Market it should Fail and vanish from the landscape... That's Far different from Tax Breaks or even Tax Exemptions for specific industries that provide products and services the nation finds deserving of such tax breaks... But giving a Company a Tax Break is Not Corporate Welfare... That's a false argument... Telling a company that because we need their product so we will not tax them for any profits it far different from sending them billions... Yes we should have Never Bailed out Wall Street, GM, Chrysler or any other Private Company at Any time... And the Federal Government should Never have Ownership positions in Private Companies... Those are the Basis of Fascism and a toe in the door to totalitarian control...

I'm an agnostic. Though I lean more towards agnostic theist, I believe the truth is unknown. It's beyond understanding to begin with. But whatever you believe in, a god or not, it requires faith to believe such. We have yet, if ever, to prove or disprove the existence of a supreme being.

I've read very little in the way of books, but I read a lot of history. And history definitely shows that people do not know the truth. lol!

I use to think that also. I would swear every time I saw social security taking out of my check. I did not know at the time that the company I worked for match that amount to go into my social secuity.

Then I thought shxt that not bad because I might not save enough by myself to retire or invest and lose all my money. So having a annuity seem a good idea at the time. Also the idea that if I and others did not my parents and lots of other poor farm people that had no educationg would have to depend on welfare to feed their kids.

So yes it can be seen a socialist, yet so can any annuity you put your money in and lose it all also. But I can see your point, but I'm not willing to give up my social security.

The big socialist thing now is Veterans Benefits. Thanks to the internet and veterans web sites you can get benefits for just about anything, just have your buddy or medic to put what is ailing you in your records before discharge. I'm all for that since they put their ass on the line.

We are now going to be a rich country with all that fracking of oil and revenues coming in. Hell bakersfield california is cranking up for huge oil boom again due to new oil fracking technologies.

Thanks for the reply, I for a long time was agnostic and now the needle for me has move to atheist. So you have a not enough faith to perform miracles....yet, I know I cannot perform miracles.

When individuals work as a group, E.G. the Westburro baptist church, it is the collective whole that the responsibility for the actions are placed upon. Same for a larger group of people who say they are "good" and condemn every one who does not follow their beliefs.

The bible is a fictional book, but christians claim that it is "the word of god" so by their claim it is the god they worship that has demanded animal blood ritual sacrifice (dont we condemn the Aztecs for that?) and placed the price of a virgin (as well as demanding the death of girls who get raped) etc...
Each and every evil act in the bible was written to justify the Jewish peoples actions. But this is what todays christians claim to worship.

We have not proved nor disproved the existence of a "supreme being" however we have proved that it is not the "god" of the bible.
We proved that the earth is not a plane with heaven above and Hell below. We proved that the sun does not orbit the earth. We have proven that illness is not "unclean" spirits, and it is funny how the Hubble telescope and Voyager 1 have not taken one picture of heaven or an angel.
My being alive is proof that prayer does nothing because of all of the christians praying that I die.

If you want to believe that, fine. But Westboro Church does not represent all Christians. In fact, not all Jews are the same, not all Catholics are the same, not all Muslims are the same, etc. Religions are unlike small groups in that the motives are different. I know atheists that are just as zealous as Christians, does that mean ALL atheists are zealots??? No. lol!

Much of the Bible is historic fact. Many of those wars did happen, many of those kingdoms did exist, many of the people, like Samuel who told the people God's warning of having a government, did exist, etc. What is fictitious is the supernatural stories - but by claiming the whole Bible is a lie is to look very ignorant.
