Dollar General has gotten really creative the last few years, and began putting new stores everywhere in places located away from towns. The new store coming to Flat Lick is a perfect example. They will get tons of business from Flat Lick, the Creek, and from the travelers on highway 25E. Their ides is brilliant...get the shoppers to spend their money BEFORE they get to town and spend it elsewhere, like Wal-Mart. Since Dollar General sells groceries, as well as all kinds of other merchandise, the few small stores in Flat Lick and the Creek, will have to lower prices to compete. Many of the other "rural" Dollar Generals across Kentucky also sale gasoline at a reasonable price. Hope this one will sale gasoline also, since the competition will help lower ALL area gas prices. This new store is a win/win for both customers and Dollar General. As many people have notices, Wal-Mart has sort of gotten "stagnant" over the years. They haven't had many new "good ideas" for a while. Dollar General is not a huge company like Wal-Mart, but they are showing they are "aware" of consumer needs, and are on the "cutting edge" with creative ideas/new store locations, etc.

Why so far out as Flat-Lick. Doesn't make any sense. Somebody must have really sucked somebody off for this.

Post number 3 is a laugh...too far out...LOL. That's the whole point, nothing else close to compete for business with a new D.G. at Flat Lick. Plus, it's not "too far out" for people in that area...what a dumb response. They are not building it in Flat Lick to attempt to draw business from Barbourville or Corbin...but from the Flat Lick/Creek area...and they will get most of it, wait and see!

it will make sense when flat lick and /dewitt school (new) is built close to it on a certain track of land, why the junk yard was sold and moved somewhere else eye sore for facing a school and the dollar store will be great to get supplies without going to town, may hurt some local bussiness that has struggled to stay in flat lick so long--JUST WAIT and see, where the big money goes if things don't change--Welcome Dollar General store, hope the barbourville manager don't manage it, she is so very rude

I just don't see them building a new school with enrollment down! If Romney was to win(like a snow ball thrown in the middle of Hell and not melting)He will cut spending on Education in half!

I am vastly unfamiliar with the entire Flat-Lick area, so naturally, none of this makes any sense to me, so just forget it, you nitwit.

They have found that puting a dollar store in off the wall places makes them alot of money because alot of people in these area are for disable as well as poor like most of us these days. They know they had rather come there than have to travel all the way to town because of gas ect they are doing very well with this new ideal..Now if they can keep people from stealing and carring them out the door they will do just fine in Flat Lick the only reason i say that is because thats the reason i moved from there my home was broke into 3 times so it was time to sell out and move enough was enough

i normally dont like to see anyone go out of business, but it would'nt bother me at all to see the creek store have to shut the doors.they use to be ok but they have made so much money that their heads are swelled as big as a watermelon.they have got plum rude,an if wendy is working there when you go in you just as well sit down for awhile because she will be to busy talking to someone to wait on you.i sure would like to have what she thinks shes worth.
