Well, I don't mind a slower connection, cause usually I'm Takin' a DUMP as I'm surfin' round the Internet...so I'm not in any big hurry then (and usually, the longer I'm relaxin' there, the better).

As a matter of fact, I'm takin' a Dump right now.

I had that problem, with exactly the same setup as you've got. Windows 7 64bit, IE11, everything updated (Java,Adobe). It don't help that Topix has advertisements flying from all four corners of the screen and ever where else they can find to stick one. I even went into installed windows updates and removed IE 11, and reinstalled it. Monkeyed with this, monkeyed with that. Still had the same problem.

I think what finally cured it for me was I opened command prompt as administrator, and ran "sfc /scannow". Then after that I got a few smaller updates from window update right after rebooting from running SFC.

I also have a handy little tool that will allow you to remove Browser Helper Objects. Browser Helper Objects can be removed manually by way of the registry, but most will find it much easier to do with this simple and safe little program. Most folks don't like poking around in the registry, it doesn't bother me. I've done it so much, I can almost do it blind folded.

On my setup, I've removed all BHO's except the two thatís used for JAVA.

"Java(tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper Oracle Corporation C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\jp2ssv.dll "
"Java(tm) Plug-In SSV Helper Oracle Corporation C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\ssv.dll "

Seems to have lined mine out. System File Checker reported that it found a few files that were corrupted and that it repaired them. Most times I've noticed it'll always report finding at least one file corrupt. But this time was different, it found several.

Wouldn't hurt to try it.
