Ok so I'm seriously thinking of opening my own restaurant here in Barbourville. I'd like to get some input from my fellow neighbors on what you all think would go over well. What kind of establishment would you like? A Buffett similar to the old Hillbillys but with better quality food? Or a place that serves you with a daily special menu?? What types of food would ya'll like? I would like to hear from you!! Comment away!!
Please

Please do not have another buffet restaurant. It would be nice to be able to go in and sit down and be waited on. And a daily special menu would be great. Only requirement is it be clean and good food and reasonably priced....

The only problem with having waitresses is none of you would leave a reasonable tip for them to make ends meet. I wouldn't eat where morons were the cooks. Picking their nose and scratching their butts then handle food. No thanks, I'll eat at home.

Most people will not agree but there are a LOT of people around here with Money... Lot's.... And a High End sit down restaurant would in short order have a Reservation list ... A Lot of locals travel all the way to Knoxville and Lexington just for a dinner at a fine 5 star restaurant...

Or a Wild Game Restaurant serving Buffalo, pheasant, Quayle, Rabbit and assorted wild menu items in a venue that has a woodsman atmosphere....

You're gonna need to serve alcohol to draw folks in. Look at Appleby's. Good luck with that though! Something like a Texas Roadhouse would make a killing. I've never seen them not busy!

I agree... without the ability to have a glass of wine or beer with dinner any restaurant will just muddle by at best....

I would love to see a nice place come to town but the problem here now is we have to many little resterants to where not the rich can go in and eat and not cost a arm and leg.working ppl get 30 minutes for lunch so this would be hard on them to come in,order, eat and get back to work.not being able to serve alcohol will hurt any resterant here cause ppl go to corbin to do this.So to make a nice living go to corbin and open one up.Thanks these so called church ppl for running your business out of town!

It doesn't have to be a high end restaurant but just make sure you have good food. The word will get out if it's good and you'll be busy. Plus if people working only have 1/2 hr for lunch they will call ahead and order take out.

Sounds great. Personally I would to have a nice restaurant where I can go and get a cup of coffee served to me in a glass cup. No plastic,no paper and no fast food.
A daily special sounds nice.As they use to say a plate lunch,in a real plate.
With the clientele you would have, waitress or waiters would be tipped.
No you do not have to have spirits for any one to really enjoy there meal.I'm there for the food and atmosphere, to relax and enjoy being catered to.
I wish you the very best of luck with your endeavor.

Here's what I was thinking of doing. Getting it going is a different story in its own... I want a nice welcoming atmosphere I am a clean freak with OCD so cleanliness is a top priority in my book. I had thought about a Buffett then I thought why not offer all you can eat and have it served to you at your table while also offering other food choices as well. I'm a stickler for hospitality I like ppl knowing me and calling me by name. It just adds something and makes me feel appreciated so I would expect my servers to treat my customers like they would their own family or close friend. I had thought about renovating the Barbourville Grill. Just not sure yet. I am considering a lot of different things and I thank y'all for your input.

I have never been in a restaurant with a buffet that served all you could eat at your table. I think you would be getting in over your head people would run your waitresses to much they wouldn't be able to keep up. But it's a good thought.
