Use the links from BLM's report in this article to verify the numbers.

More underhanded tactics for power over the American people.

If endangered species require protection, then why is o.k. as long as gov. gets money?

Coal, Bad for Private Industry, Great for Government
The Department of Interior and BLM control about 40 percent of the nationís coal leases and take in billions of dollars in revenue. Coal fueled power plants are responsible for nearly 50 percent of our nationís electricity. THIS IS WHY SO MANY IN KY ARE WITHOUT A JOB!

Don't worry gov. will take care of you.

The author of the article at that link can't spell. Once I hit a glaring misspelling or misuse that is clearly not a typo, I stop reading because of credibility issues.

Thats why you miss the big picture. Maybe this will help, although I doubt any facts will make a difference, you are to focused on misspelling/misuse to understand the context.

Southeastern KY is notorious for their low sulfur coal and has always been"environmentally chosen" as the primary choice for power plants across the world (not just nation). Obama has attacked and waged war on this coal as a way for the federal government to take the whole dang cookie jar rather than just keeping their hands in it. If you were born in coal these shockers are nothing new; you were born and bred to survive these types of catastrophe's. Southeast KY will NEVER stop mining coal. You can clearly move the jobs but cannot move the resource! Coalminers are like geckos, they can make themselves appear to fit in whatever environment they are placed in. Most of our southeastern companies have moved and partnered with western Kentucky coal companies and have strategically planned so they can survive the last few years of Obama! Mitch McConnell is fighting for KY whether you people think he is or not. The grants that this area has received for laid off miners is record, they have went as far as paying mortgage payments for these families. The coal in western KY and surrounding areas is alot to be undesired for. Low btu and high sulfer and is environmentally devastating!!! So, hold on coalminers and coal families; we were born and bread for this and reform is coming! It may not be sold in the USA but countries such as china and Australia can't wait to get their hands on what we have right here in these good ol southeastern KY mountains!!!

The problem is, this administration has regulated every aspect of coal mining & with the EPA strong arming this industry, their goal is to put private coal producers out of business. The the BLM will rake in more money & control.

Thank you for your post, I hope more people educate themselves to the reason behind regulations, its not about environment or saving some animal, that is only an excuse, its about money & power, when people can't work, they control the people.

o please! Grammar, punctuation and spelling are only a few factors associated with an individuals intelligence! If it were not for word processing here in 2014 half of the world couldn't complete a sentence properly! Rules and regulations have been put on every commodity in the world so that government's can either put their hand in the cookie jar or STEAL The whole damn jar!

You are exactly correct about the grammar and puncuations. People are just stupid and that's the way the govt. wanted you and others like you to be. They hope that your ignorance will influence more people to be just like you, then no one will understand anything that is important. It's a sad day for education as people don't need to understand anything. If you simply have a reason that two plus two equals seven then ,your answer is not wrong. That is our future. Bye bye.
