Correctional Officers Job Summary
•Correctional officers and jailers have a hazardous and stressful job, and may experience nonfatal on-the-job injuries.
•Most correctional officers and jailers work in state and local government jails and prisons.
•Job opportunities are expected to be favorable in the coming years.

Correctional officers and jailers admit, process, and oversee convicted offenders who are serving sentences for their crimes. Their responsibilities include preventing disturbances, escapes and assaults, as well as maintaining inmate accountability and security. Correctional officers and jailers supervise inmates while they are at work and any other times they may be out of their cells. In addition, they search inmates and their living quarters to ensure that there are no fire hazards, unsanitary conditions, contraband or evidence of rule-breaking, and they inspect doors, grilles, window bars, locks and gates for any sign of tampering or attempted escape..

Good luck! Danny Stark, Keith Liford or Elbert Mills

You obviously don't know Mike Baker. Drug dealer???? He has actually worked all his life in "legal" jobs. He wouldn't recognize a oxycotin if he found it in his belly button. With regard to his family and/or relatives, I doubt he has any more control than the rest of us who have dealt with addiction among those we love dearly. There are some good people running for jailer. Do we really need to bash them?

We have a lot of good people running for jailer didn't know Mike was one.
Lots of people over jail tracker were treated like peasants basically told to we had no say in what we feel is right. Basically told we did it now live with it. Well I hope the next does not repeat this action. We do have the right.
Voters complained now let's see if the peasants can show we do count.

I'm voting for Mike Baker for Jailer. He is a really good guy and is well respected. He has done a good job at everything he has ever worked at, and has a proven track record in many areas (teaching, coaching, school administration and house building) and he would do a good job as jailer. He is one of the most qualified candidates to ever run for public office in Knox County. There may be other candidates running who would be ok but Mike is extremely qualified and is the best person for the job.

Didn't see his name in paper. Wish there was more we could do to show people how the system works. Election is near.

It looks like the current politicians have hedged their bets pretty good. Too many Candidates are running, the vote will be split giving most of the current Court House crew the advantage.

my vote will be for mike baker, he has worked hard in the school system dealing with many issues with children including discipline, tough love, and assisting them in showing what a real role model should be. He would do the best job in my opinion and should not be judged by something as he has been in previous comments. All of us in knox county know that the jail needs a CHANGE. Mike would clean the jail up and make sure NO other inmate is beat, or dies of overdose. Hands down he is the best person for the job.
