If they would cut out all the law suits, The sup seems to have all the time just look at the money would have been saved. Then he hires a person from corbin school system to shut them up, A assistdent sup that don't know which way is up or down. Why dose Knox County need two assistdent sup's anyway look at the money they would save. Cut the waste and i know where a lot of it is, Contracting jobs that could be done in house if thay were smart enough(Sup said that Quote) I think they should reconstuct form the Top to the bottom. I personly thank the sup is here to get what he can get and then when the heat gets turned up he is gone to leave us with the mess he has made.

The test scores are not going to improve till Hulett is gone.
I mean the guy said he Knox Schools will be at the top of the state in 5 years 6 years ago.
The guy is a fast talking con who sold knox county a monorail.
I'm a bit confused here.. I'm by no means taking up for Mr. Hulett, or the school board members. That being said, the students, their parents, and their teachers are responsible for the test scores they receive. The mindset of students today isn't like it was 20 years or more ago. They just don't care about their education. Teachers can teach, try to engage their students minds, try to make "learning fun" but you can't make a student "learn" anything if they don't want to. It seems they're more interested in making babies they cannot possibly be able to care for properly than continuing their education..

Who is being attacked? The parents of the students by the teachers and board members?
I do agree with some of what you are saying on here.. But, if the parents would take a more active role in their children's education, making sure they go to school, finish assignments, etc, the children might actually go to school and get the education they deserve. Even a brilliant teacher cannot make a student learn if they just don't give a damn.

Just felt the need to add this...

I have a student from a prominent family in this town who so far this year has missed 15 days of school, he rarely turns in homework and when he does its rarely done right. Tests, he's never made higher than a 70% and his behavior, well is simply horrible! I've asked to have a conference with the parents and I've been turned down... TWICE!!!

You will have a full bleacher at the ball games, it can be cold and nasty weather and it's a go.... Have a meeting on the kids education like a PTA meeting and less than a handful will show up... Until families have at least as much concern about their kids education as they do about their kids tossing a ball teachers will never be able to teach the kids anything...

I know several with teaching certificates that can't get hired. Why?
Because they don't hire the best man for the job. They hire who is more politically useful.

They know they can't teach and blow smoke up each others ass blaming the parents or else they would let the kids go to Corbin that wanted to go to Corbin.

They force them to stay in a failed school system.

Sounds to me like you have tried to get a teaching job or have had a job and been fired! Hmmm... You are the only one on here blaming the board and actually naming names! Scorned are we? Bless your heart...pray about honey. God can change things. He can also soften your heart. Find a church, any church tomorrow and hit a pew!

Who promotes this atmosphere? The schools. They are more concerned about hiring a coach than good teachers. They are more concerned about the athletes getting to play than about how they perform in the classroom. look at the facilities at KC. Compare the football field to the tny size of the classrooms. It isn't just the parents and the atmosphere is creatd by the school system. Still. other schools have similar mindsets and still have successful school systems.

The kids will be on SSI thanks to Knox county schools.
They are already on SSI and don't give a $h1t about school and test scores and that is why the testing reports are so bad!

No, I bet you these children can tell you how to roll a joint, sell a pill, drink a beer, identify the police, can tell you what not to tell on their parents of course to save their checks and to keep themselves from being placed in foster care.

Go to school functions such as open house, parent teacher, ball games etc, well all I can say is if you tested these families 4 county jails couldn't hold the druggies.

You want change. When it is obvious that we have child abuse. Cut the parents checks, have social services involved maybe that child does not need to be in that surrounding. This is just a few things that would really help our children. Social services being on the top doing their jobs. Check out other surrounding counties no tolerance for abuse.

Personly, I think it's a losing battle untill everyone is held accountable. I made sure my kids went to school everyday(but whey they were sick)They have ever thing handed to them on a silver platter, Free lunch,Free Books,Free AC/Heat New High School. So what do you do? It's not just the teachers fault then you have the parents that you have no control over. Poverty is a big problem if people had a place to work, which they don't i think it would be a different situation. Please stop pointing fingers at everybody and try to address these issue's. It started when the state made teachers teach the way they won'ted Care'a 1990 and its went down ever sence. Put the American Flag,Back in the classrooms and Prayer back in schools, Put the 10 cammandments back on the wall. Thank maybe i am wrong i sure hope not.

Except.... putting your children at the mercy of a school system and a social system that sticks their nose up at prayer.
