Most of the people offended by the teachers getting a raise don't even pay taxes. I bet you people on WELFARE have got a raise every year the last four years. At least the teachers do get up and go to work. They also at least try to teach your children even when the parents don't care.

I will take some negatives for this comment, Whole families teaching in the county of same kin! We need some new blood as teachers, Instead of hiring from the same old families! When something is not working, It's time for a change!

The super can be fired, the board can be replaced, all the teachers can be replaced by teachers from the best schools in the area.

Nothing will change as far as test scores and attitude goes.

Why?

You still have the same students from the same disfunctional families with the same attitudes.

You folks have a much larger problem than your teachers and schools.

The larger problem we have is teachers and schools thinking we have a larger problem than the teachers and schools.

Thats like blaming the fans for the team.

The name of this thread tells all, as well as your posts.

Fireworks at the Knox board meeting tonight

Have you and the parents of the area ever considered the possibility of working with the school system instead of working against it?

The mentality of the area is proven daily by topix posts, BLAME EVERYONE ELSE BECAUSE OF YOUR FAILURE AS A RESPONSIBLE PERSON.

The only way to improve the schools, the fiscal court, the drug problem, the single parent problem, the abuse problem.

The adults must first change their attitude and accept the responsibility for whatever condition they have put THEMSELVES IN.

The children are a direct reflection of their families not a product of a school system.

The failure of a child or the success of a child academically and socially is the result of what it is taught at home and in the neighborhood.

You people are too stupid to realize this or too irresponsible to accept this,(one or the other or both)

It will take years and maybe a generation to correct the situation you people have put your children in.

Then and only then will you be able to ( maybe have a decent school system)

It must start at home and work its way through each community.

Corbin has a top school in the state and is 20 minutes away.

Knox has an out of touch with reality School Superintendent that said 6 years ago Knox Schools will be the top schools in the state in 5 years and stop students from seaking a better education at Corbin.

This has nothing to do with the parents.

Knox Schools hire teachers that are not teachers and gives them emergency teaching certificates.

Knox County, Whitley, Laurel, Clay and Bell counties, Corbin city, London City and all other Districts all operate within the same guidelines as issued by the state.

All at one time or another use emergency clauses to fill positions to handle situations.

Knox County is not going to attract a lot of teachers from other areas because of the social atmosphere in the area.

A DIRECT REFLECTION OF FAMILY VALUES AND NEIGHBORHOOD SITUATIONS,

Knox County teachers are educated at the same Universities as the other teachers, they meet the same requirements, they pass the same tests.

All systemf have their hiring clics of family first buddies second.

Your debating points hold no substance, they are mute when proven.

The difference in all this is the moral and social values displayed by the students parents.

The family and community are the controling factors.

The children and teachers and school system are all victims.

You seem to have personal issues of some sort with the administrative dept. which may or may not be justified.

That has absolutely no relevance to the central issue of improving the school system, which I support, knowing they have faults just as corbin and london and Somerset.

My point is this, the improvement in the school system as a whole must be based on each individual child being taught at home, the value of working to get a good education and work with their educators, not against them.

With your attitude that basic fact will never come to pass in Knox County.

Who taught you this,(the teachers or the super?) or your family and friends?

I do not blame anyone, I am simply saying that improvement in the County Government, the School System, the communities, the churches, all aspects of social life, must begin at the family level.

The first thing we must do is understand what we see as an improvement, may be seen as not improving to others.

The one thing we can agree on is each person should be responsible for their actions and the family is where this must be taught.

Good luck to you and your family and to the school system, but most of all, to each individual child.

I believe you have to start at home when it comes to about 75% of the problem,Parents that don't care = Students that don't care. You can't blame it all on the teachers or parents it's like anything else in life there are good and bad teachers and parents. It's just too bad everybody has to suffer because of a few bad apples

If they would cut out all the law suits, The sup seems to have all the time just look at the money would have been saved. Then he hires a person from corbin school system to shut them up, A assistdent sup that don't know which way is up or down. Why dose Knox County need two assistdent sup's anyway look at the money they would save. Cut the waste and i know where a lot of it is, Contracting jobs that could be done in house if thay were smart enough(Sup said that Quote) I think they should reconstuct form the Top to the bottom. I personly thank the sup is here to get what he can get and then when the heat gets turned up he is gone to leave us with the mess he has made.
