Until We Find ONE WMD in Iraq, Republicans Should Really Calm Down a Bit About “Obamacare”

Anyone who follows my writing knows that I believe Republicans are some of the most hypocritical individuals on the planet. But they’re not strictly limited to hypocrisy. I find many times they completely contradict themselves and often reek of irony.

One such example of their irony (and hypocrisy) is their “outrage” about the fact that some Americans won’t be allowed to keep their current health insurance (because it doesn’t meet the minimum standards established under the Affordable Care Act) despite the fact that President Obama said they would be able to.

Well, President Obama misspoke. Did he lie? I guess some might say he did, but I just don’t see it that way. He simply didn’t include the phrase,“If your current plan meets the basic requirements under the new healthcare law.” The requirements weren’t hidden, so by him omitting that phrase it meant each individual would have had to inquire with their health insurance provide themselves to find out the sustainability of their current insurance plan.

However, for Republicans to say that a president not being fully honest about something is deplorable and condemnable is absolutely astounding.

The party of President George W. Bush — I’m sure everyone remembers him. The man who started a war on the promise that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Otherwise known as “WMD’s.”

Their president took our nation to war on the pretense that we were going to find stockpiles of dangerous weapons which posed a gigantic threat to the United States and our allies. He promised us that Iraq was a threat to our freedom and was a breeding ground for terrorism.

Which, of course, were all absolute lies.
Iraq never had any weapons of mass destruction. Iraq was never a real threat to the United States.

And if you want to talk about a breeding ground for terrorism, that’s what Iraq has turned into since our invasion. And I’m just talking about his lies about WMD’s in Iraq — I haven’t even touched on the fact that Bush promised us his tax cuts would balance our budget and bring us to economic prosperity.

Then let’s not forget about his little flight suit spectacle (paid for by taxpayer money, by the way) where he declared “Mission Accomplished”— which was another lie.

So what did Bush’s lie cost? Over 4,000 troops killed, tens of thousands more wounded (many of them for the rest of their lives) and countless dead Iraqi civilians. Then let’s not forget about the trillions his wars and unfunded tax cuts added to our national debt.

Now they want to act appalled and outraged because President Obama wasn’t completely honest about some Americans being able to keep their old insurance? And the worst thing that happens with that “lie” is that people are now forced to buy more comprehensive health coverage at (for some) a higher premium.

So, in the mind of many Republicans, lying about a war which resulted in over 4,000 brave American soldiers being sent to their deaths is acceptable, but neglecting to be completely detailed about the ability for some Americans to be allowed to keep their current health insurance—that is a horrific lie!

Maybe Republicans might want to take a step back and a deep breath. Because while Obama misleading Americans about their health insurance is inexcusable, at least he didn’t lie about the pretense for war that resulted in the death of over 4,000 Americans.

Which is exactly what the president they voted for twice did.

http://www.forwardprogressives.com/until-we-f...

Guess the idiots want to keep their shitty plans that don't comply with the new ACA law. By election time it will be a success and people will be singing it praises. Meanwhile let them cry foul like the hypocrite repukes they are.

Ed Schultz: Washington Obstruction vs Obamacare’s Kentucky Success (VIDEO)

MSNBC’s Ed Schultz did what all journalists should be doing. He is reporting on Obamacare comprehensively. Specifically, he is putting the rollout of exchanges in the proper context. This is what they should all be doing.

Ed Schultz did not stay cooped up in Washington DC, or New York. He went directly to the source.

He visited with Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear in Kentucky. The Kentucky exchange is up and running successfully. Kentucky is one of 15 states that set up their own. Except for Oregon’s exchange, most exchanges are running mostly fine.
Obamacare Kentucky Success.

The Governor had many important pieces of information to provide. He told Schultz,
He said that the idea that nobody wants Obamacare (Affordable Care Act) is hogwash. In his Red State of Kentucky, people are clamoring to get covered.
His state embraced Obamacare from the beginning. They called it Kynect. In his state it is all about Kentuckians helping Kentuckians.

They have already signed up 32,000 Kentuckians.
Over 350,000 people are swarming their Obamacare Kentucky website.

He said contrary to Republican misinformation, Obamacare is creating jobs. He referenced an economic analysis that place Kentucky’s Obamacare job creation north of 17,000.

He stated the fact that no company with under 50 employees is affected by Obamacare. Even so he is advising companies with as little as 25 employees to checkout the exchange. Many will qualify for tax subsidies that can help their employees get affordable healthcare. Note that if an employer does not provide health insurance, the employee can get affordable health insurance directly from the Obamacare exchanges.

When asked if either of Kentucky’s misinforming Republican Senators have visited this Obamacare Kentucky success story and on the ground implementation, Steve Beshear said they have not.

The video snippet below is probative.

Ed Schultz did a great job in showing the contrast between the Obamacare Kentucky success and Republican messaging. Kentucky’s two charlatan Senators in Washington continue to lie to the country. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) and Mitch McConnell (R-KY) are trying to ignore the Obamacare Kentucky success at the peril of their own constituents. This is sad. This is un-American. This is inhumane.

GRANDrand exposed again..PRICELESS

Rand Paul Tries To Scrub Website Clean After Multiple Charges Of Plagiarism

The evidence of plagiarism by Senator Rand Paul has grown over the last few days. Even more instances of his use of the words of others has come to light. But the latest discovery is that Paul’s website has been altered, removing the transcript of several of his speeches. Are we trying to hide something Senator?

On October 28, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow presented a segment comparing the words of a speech Senator Paul gave in Virginia to the Wikipedia entry for the movie “Gattaca.” The words of each are almost identical to the other. Buzzfeed’s Andrew Kaczynski later proved that the Wikipedia entry on Gattaca had not been altered since Paul’s speech, taking away the potential argument that someone had changed it to reflect Paul’s words.

If this had been the only evidence that Rand Paul has plagiarized the work of others, there might not have been a story. Stuff happens. But Maddow’s report opened a floodgate of examples of Paul liberally (pun intended) borrowing words that he did not write.

On November 2, Buzzfeed reported that Paul plagiarized a Heritage Foundation report in his book “Government Bullies.” On November 3, Buzzfeed again reported that Paul’s website had been updated, with footnotes added to the text of a June 2013 speech. As if that wasn’t enough, Buzzfeed found even more on November 4: Paul plagiarized portions of an op-ed from an earlier article.

Buzzfeed provides several examples of changes to Rand Paul’s website in response to plagiarism charges.

As plagiarism charges and evidence have mounted, now we are learning that Paul’s website is quietly undergoing more changes. The Raw Story cites the example of a February 6 speech to the Heritage Foundation. Paul’s site originally featured a video of the speech, along with a transcript. Now only the video remains. Kaczynski and Buzzfeed have identified other examples of changes to Paul’s site over the past few days. Transcripts have been removed. Videos no longer play on the site, but open a YouTube page instead.

Does Senator Paul understand what plagiarism is?

The changes at Paul’s site reinforce Maddow’s claim that the senator doesn’t really understand what plagiarism is. Senator Paul told Fusion host Jorge Ramos “We borrowed the plot lines from Gattaca. It’s a movie. I gave credit to the people who wrote the movie.” Paul doesn’t seem to get that “borrow[ing]…plot lines” isn’t the problem.

The problem is that he has, on several occasions, quoted verbatim from the works of others without giving them credit. No, Senator Paul, you do not need to footnote your speeches. All you need to do is something such as the following:“The Wikipedia entry for the movie Gattaca describes the plot as follows…” See, not so hard, is it?

Buzzfeed is now reporting that Paul’s office is introducing a new procedure for providing citations. Paul’s advisor Doug Stafford said in a statement that “Footnotes presenting supporting facts were not always used. Going forward, footnotes will be available on request.”

Here’s the problem with that procedure: When you read a book, there are references to the footnotes or endnotes in the text. They are plain, and the reader can choose to look at the notes or not.

Paul’s office is apparently saying that the senator will continue to use the words of others in his speeches, but if someone wants to know which words belong to the senator, and which were written by someone else, well, you’ll just have to ask for the footnotes.

By brushing off charges of plagiarism as “making a mountain out of a molehill,” Paul indicates that he either has no idea of the seriousness of his acts, or that he simply doesn’t care.

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/11/05/rand-...
