First Look: 9/11 Museum to balance grief with remembrance
The first thing visitors to the National September 11 Memorial Museum will notice when it opens next year is a pair of striking, iconic emblems of that day two 80-foot pieces of steel, known as tridents, that formed the base of the original World Trade Center, still reddish brown from the fires that burned for 99 days after the attack. The tridents rise into the museum's atrium and appear to lance the sky, framing the memorial plaza outside and the gleaming new skyscrapers that line the parcel of Lower Manhattan formerly known as Ground Zero.
You CONS should take a look since you showed no outrage when Bush ignored the warnings months before 9/11. 3000+ dead and you dwell on FOUR killed by terrorist in a terrorist part of the world. Typical denial expected.

Glenn Beck Says Liberals Should Be Hunted Down Like Nazis
Time and time again, conservatives have compared liberals to Nazis. Its been their favorite comparison ever since President Obama first took office. Its certainly a favorite of Glenn Beck. Throughout his tenure on right-wing radio, Fox News, and his current show, Beck has compared liberals to everything from Nazis to fascists to communists. And he did it again during an interview with the New York Times.
First of all, it should be pointed out that progressives are nowhere close to being Nazis. Both groups are on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Progressivism is left-wing while Nazism is an offshoot of fascism which is found on the right-wing.
The hallmarks of fascism and Nazism include:(Yep, sounds like the TEABAGGING CONS)
Rule by a few
Little tolerance of meaningful opposition
Punishment of the poor and sick
Media as a propaganda tool
Obsessed with military and war
Education as an indoctrination tool
Demonization of intellectuals
Hatred and fear of communists
Subjugation of women
Obsessed with Christianity
Strongly aligned with corporations
Takes advantage of disasters to push agenda
This sounds an awful lot like the present-day Tea Party wing of the Republican Party. Though the similarities are strong, its still not really fair to compare any party to the Nazis. After all, the Nazis committed genocide. But all of the aspects of the Nazis also shared by todays right-wing- sexism, racism, homophobia, xenophobia, etc -all led to the war crimes committed in Germany. Thats why its important to understand political ideologies and where they fit on the spectrum. You cant just lump socialism, communism, and Nazism together. The Nazis hated socialists and communists and murdered thousands upon thousands of them.
Progressives, on the other hand, believe in racial diversity, support same-sex marriage, want corporate regulations to protect consumers, support organized labor and worker rights, believe in working with the world, support health care for all, want a military draw-down, and fight for equal rights for women. Progressives are definitely NOT Nazis as Beck and other extreme right-wingers claim. By calling for hunting down progressives, Beck is essentially calling for violence against Democrats. He wants to round them all up. We can only assume that he either wants to imprison them all or kill them all. How does that make HIM any different from a Nazi? Nazis hunted down and rounded up the Jews and put them in death camps to eliminate them from German society. Thats exactly what Beck is advocating. Except that instead of Jews, its liberals.
Glenn Beck is a vitriolic figure in this country and he shouldnt be allowed on the airwaves. His rhetoric is just as bad or worse than Rush Limbaughs. His crazy conspiracy theories and false accusations have divided Americans for far too long. If Beck really wants everyone to get along with each other, he should get the ball rolling by voluntarily placing himself into obscurity.

Report: One in Six Kentucky Households Cannot Afford Healthy Food
One in six Kentucky households report having serious problems affording nutritious food, according to new data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The report released on Wednesday also reveals basic hunger needs in the state have increased over the past decade even as lawmakers in Washington are proposing to dump millions of food stamp recipients.
Of the approximately 285,000 Kentucky households experiencing food insecurity, about 113,000 had at least one or more members living in the home forced to reduce their food intake. The agriculture department's report shows 15.6 percent lack adequate food choices, a five percent increase since 2003.
Many argue government help such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program combat those hunger issues. But food stamps face a possible $40 billion worth of cuts in Congress, which could eliminate benefits for up to 6 million Americans.
Jason Bailey is director of the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy. He says the cuts are coming at a time when many families are still struggling economically.
"Its not like theyre also proposing to create 4 to 6 million jobs that these folks can get to provide enough income for them to pay for their food needs. Its an incredibly cruel and counter-productive proposal at a time when unemployment is still high," he says.
Republican lawmakers who favor the cuts argue the legislation is needed in order to address the country's growing deficit problems. Others point to tighter restrictions on requirements that will eliminate fraud and waste from the program.
SNAP funding is already scheduled to receive a cut when a provision from the 2009 stimulus bill expires this year. But in recent years food stamps have been another dividing ideological line.
From The New York Times:
Over all, nearly 48 million Americans in the richest country in the world now receive food stamps, an $80 billion-a-year program that is increasingly the target of conservatives.
Robert Rector, a scholar at the conservative Heritage Foundation, argues that the food stamp program should be overhauled so that benefits are tied to work, much as welfare was revamped under President Clinton. He advocates mandatory drug testing for food stamp recipients a position that draws support from Mr. Rigsby, who dreams of becoming a game warden and said it irritates him to see people mooch off the system.
Congress is expected to deal with proposal when lawmakers return to Washington next week, but Bailey and others are pressuring Kentuckys federal delegation to address the state's growing hunger crisis beforehand.
In a telephone interview, Congressman John Yarmuth, D-Ky., told WFPL he opposes the cuts, adding the majority of food stamp recipients are children, disabled or elderly.
"I voted against the farm bill because of the cuts that it imposed on food stamps," says Yarmuth. "Unfortunately, now House Republicans want to cut the program further. And that's totally unacceptable in a time when food insecurity across the country and specifically in Kentucky has grown to very alarming levels."
Earlier this year, the House passed a measure separating food stamp funding from agriculture policy in the farm bill for the first time in four decades.
Around 850,000 Kentuckians receive SNAP benefits and the cuts could disproportionately impact rural parts of the state.
"In Kentucky, the cuts the House proposes to add would throw 88,000 Kentuckians off of SNAP," says Bailey. "So this would severely worsen the problem benefit because youd have a whole lot of Kentuckians who have very low incomes all of sudden would not be able to receive the benefits that they need to provide their basic food needs.
The other five members of Kentuckys congressional delegation, who are all Republicans, did not respond to our request for comment.

Obamacare Insurance Costs Affordable, Kaiser Survey Finds
A 25-year-old New Yorker earning $25,000 a year will pay as little as $62 a month for health insurance next year, and a peer living in Vermont may pay nothing, according to a 17-state survey of premiums under the U.S. health-care overhaul.
The Kaiser Family Foundation report is the broadest look yet at what consumers will pay for health insurance when the Affordable Care Act takes full effect next year. The cost issue has been a top concern for President Barack Obamas administration, which is trying to persuade at least 7 million Americans who now lack insurance to sign up for coverage starting Oct. 1.
By the time elections role around the success of The Affordable Care Act will bite those teabagging CONS in the ass again.

The "explainer in chief" hahaha
Bill Clinton Schools Republicans on Facts About Obamacare
Former President Bill Clinton has been asked to travel around the country and clarify the facts about the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare). Considering how much right-wing slander has been slung at the health care law, President Obama figured Clinton was the perfect person to speak on behalf of the truth about the law.
While speaking at his library in Little Rock, Arkansas, Clinton called on Republicans to improve Obamacare, not repeal it.
In fact, during his hour-long speech, he echoed something similar to that of Newt Gingrich, who called Republicans out for the same thing just a few weeks ago. Clinton, like Gingrich, called out Republicans for holding 40 different votes to repeal the landmark lawyet offering absolutely no alternatives if the law were to be repealed.
Which is absolutely true. Republicans have gone on for years about the horrors of the Affordable Care Act, yet havent offered any sort of alternative for the health care law.
Because the truth isthey dont have any.
As Clinton said, not only have Republicans opposed the law, theyve gone out of their way to undermine it as well.
This speech seemed to play off the comments made by President Obama just a few weeks ago when he said Republicans saw defeating Obamacare as the holy grail of the Republican party.
Clinton seems to have chose his home state as a staging point for this first big speech to highlight the bipartisan efforts Arkansas has exhibited in implementing the law.
While his speech wasnt nearly as exciting as the one he gave at last years DNC, he obviously targeted parts of the health care law which many Republicans have made a career out of lying about.
He emphasized the state exchanges, which are one of the big driving forces behind the law, and noted that states which are fighting against the law are putting millions within their state at risk of not having health insurance.
But the overall context of his speech was the emphasis on bipartisan efforts to implement and improve the law. Which is something Republicans have made clear they have no intention of doing.
Which makes Clintons speeches that much more important. After years of right-wing misinformation, myths and blatant lies, President Obama hopes to use Clintons gift of explaining complex issues simply to battle the plethora of Republican distortions about the health care law.
So in the weeks ahead, Republicans like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul will spend an ample amount of time doing all they can to continue their campaign of fear and propaganda in a last-ditch effort to defund Obamacare. But President Obama has played the ace up his sleeve, and now has Bill Clinton in his corner to counter their lies.
Weve got facts, reality and Bill Clinton. Theyve got propaganda, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz. I have to sayI like our odds.
"Weve got facts, reality and Bill Clinton" haha, CONS have zilch.

The Real Deal: Georgia Governor Receives Kick-Backs For Obstructing Health Care Reform
Here is the real deal. A Political Action Committee known as Real PAC that has close connections to Georgia Governor Nathan Deal finally disclosed a financial report on the Friday before Labor Day (hoping no one would notice and the first such disclosure since 2011).
Gov. Deals family and business partner have been receiving payments from Real PAC that included contributions from,(that exceed the amount that can be given directly to Deals re-election campaign but not to a PAC) but not limited to, health insurance companies.
Gov. Deal and Georgia state Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens oppose the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. Last week, state insurance commissioner Hudgens was caught on tape boasting to a crowd of supporters that his office is deliberately obstructing the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
While the head of the plantation sits in the main house, in the big chair, entertaining his moneyed big city friends with his hand in your pocket (and theirs) and his strap across the back of Georgias red clay field hands, controlled by his appointed captains, we Georgians can rest assured that the old Souths good ole boy network will continue to operate like molasses in the winter time. Sweet and slow. With just enough smoky overtones as to mask its true character. Upon closer examination, its just old cane with the sugar boiled out until it yields its final drop of nutrient.

Racist Nut Job Claims Jews Coined Words Gay And White Supremacist To Oppress Whites (VIDEO)
On September 4th, 2013 white supremacist Craig Paul Cobb appeared on the David Pakman show. During the interview, Cobb was asked why he doesnt return to Canada, to face prosecution for the hate crimes which he is charged with in that country. While Cobb told Pakman he did plan to return to Canada to face those charges when hes 90 or 100 or so, while also explaining that the term white supremacist, just like the word gay was invented by the Jews to suppress whites.
And just like gay and so many other terms, these are terms devised by Jews to oppress whites.
Cobb, who is currently wanted in Canada for hate crimes, appears to have moved to the US, where freedom of religion laws allow him to legally practice his hate. According to an August 2013 article from Canadas National Post:
Cobb, 62, was arrested in June 2010 for allegedly promoting hatred through his website Podblanc. He was released from custody and fled Canada before he was charged in December 2010 with willful promotion of hatred. Cobb holds dual citizenship in Canada and the U.S.
While not a single one of Cobb beliefs holds up to even the smallest bit of scrutiny, he contends that his views are not based on hate. He says that hes a separatist, which is somehow different from a supremacist. He goes on to state that his religion doesnt want to lord over other races or groups, it just doesnt want to live with them. In spite of all his talk, its blatantly obvious that Cobbs views are not benign. His intention is clearly to use hate to cleanse the town of Leith, thereby driving out everyone that doesnt fit his definition of white. In order to fulfill his twisted dreams of creating this all white community, he would also have to use the same hate to keep out any new residents, who dont fit with that definition.

Fox Guest Argues That Letting Children Go Hungry At School Teaches Them A Lesson (VIDEO)
Fox News put the Republican war on school lunches into the spotlight on Thursday morning, and the discussion demonstrated just how heartless conservatives have become when it comes to hunger and children.
In response to a New Jersey schools decision to punish kids for not having enough money to pay for a school meal by making them go hungry, Fox guest and supposed school counselor Thomas Kersting told Gretchen Carlson on Fox & Friends that its perfectly acceptable for a school to let a child go hungry as a consequence of the mistakes made by their parents.
Kersting called the schools policy to throw the meal away if the child lacks the funds to purchase it a teaching moment.
I agree with the superintendent. I think its a little harsh. You know, I dont think theyre going to throw the food out right in front of the kid and embarrass the kid I think it is misleading that the kids are going to be punished. We have more food than any other nation. You know, no kid is going to starve. You know, if one day a kid doesnt have lunch, right, maybe thats a teaching moment when that kid doesnt have lunch.
That may sound harsh saying that, but weve got to get people to start being responsible for themselves. I can tell you from almost 20 years working in a school district, theyre not going to make the kids starve. Thats just kind of like a big warning to the parents. And I have kids come to me, I give kids money all the time. And Im broke from doing that over the years. No, Im kidding.
Heres the video via Raw Story:
Republicans are also waging war against food assistance in the states they control. Because hunger affects academic performance, many children will likely not have the education and skills necessary to get a well-paying job in the future.
That ultimately affects the economy. In short, hunger affects us all and no one should be so heartless as to deny a child something to eat.
